Disabling parts of the brain with magnets can weaken faith in God and change attitudes to immigrants

Every now and then you wonder "how fucking dumb are some people", stumble upon a thread about magnets turning off parts of the brain that becomes instantly partisan.... and you realize "that fucking dumb".

Because smart people understand that the brain controls literally everything, not just cognitive capacity.

Say you had to take an IQ test while being surrounded by models, getting a blowjob from a pornstar, someone is blasting 3 different songs real loud creating a cacophony, while you eat an habanero and someone rips out the nastiest fart you ever smelled.

All of those sensations described above are on your brain, sound, tact, taste, pain, smell, lust, anger, fear they are all on your brain.

So if your brain is being bombarded by these emotions you cant concentrate on your cognitive capacity. If you could shut down pretty much all parts of the brain that are not used in a particular task you can get far more productive on cognitive tasks.

But i guess you will respond with "Brains = smart lololol" mouthbreathing, knuckle-dragging response.

The article points out that the magnets makes you less hostile to people from outside your group that question your beliefs, not anti-immigration. Go to ISIS and tell them Islam is wrong and see if they agree with you or double down on their beliefs.

But sure, tell me how ideological fanaticism and a belief in god is the mark of the genius.

Next time you post an article, read beyond the headlines.

It's the part of the brain that controls are response to threats, and irrational fear is perceived as a threat. The same thing would probably make a person with an irrational fear of spiders become less afraid of spiders. Or heights, or flying or whatever irrational phobia. Because the human brain and mind over hundreds of thousands of years has created all gods to ever exist as a way to deal with the unknown, and the unknown was a threat. Since no one knows what happens wen we die, the threat of death is defended against by the imagination of gods, goddesses and so on.

The brain processing center what was shut down was the part that when you feel threatened makes you believe in god and become hostile towards criticism of your own ideology or "tribe" by outsides parties.

Yeah, because thats what we all want to be, religious ideologues that see criticism of our beliefs as a threat.

Literally that part of the brain is what makes Islam and religion such a retarded concept. Its a part of the brain that kills self-reflection.

That's a pretty elaborate "Republicans are literally Saudis" argument. If religious people are less trusting than I suppose it makes sense that atheistic countries (China, Soviet Union) have murdered tens of millions of their own citizens. Baa baa.

Actually, all those senses you mentioned are tied in with cognition and vital to memory, reasoning and decision making.

You also have a very mistaken view of modularity.

The point i was making is that the part of the brain that was shutdown made people more receptive to introspection and criticism, and thats not a bad thing.

People following ideologies without questioning them just because they are part of your team are the ones making a lot of places real shitholes.
