Islam fought Martins in his 13th fight. Khabib fought someone from the stands in his dad's promotion who was 1-1 and finished his career 3-6.

Khabib wasnt at AKA until 2013. He was still raw and his striking terrible back then. Not a stretch to say early Khabib wouldve lost that. We saw pre AKA Khabib need a robbery to get past Tibau in his 18th fight

Martins was 15-2 in his last 17 pre Islam. Loss to Cowboy and a MD loss to Trinaldo. He also beat Khabilov a teammate of both Islam and Khabib, who was ranked at the time while Khabib and Islam werent, right before fighting Islam. Most likely because Khabib led the way for his teammates into the UFC where they didn't really have to run around Ukraine, Russia, and other countries fighting in different promotions and tournaments to get noticed.

Once Khabib got in, it was easy for his teammates to get noticed and signed.
