I get what youre saying but the definition of the term has come to include ethnicities and nationalities.
UN definition:
the term "racial discrimination" shall mean any distinction, exclusion, restriction, or preference based on race, colour, descent, or national or ethnic origin that has the purpose or effect of nullifying or impairing the recognition, enjoyment or exercise, on an equal footing, of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the political, economic, social, cultural or any other field of public life.
British Law:
Racial group: any group of people who are defined by reference to their race, colour, nationality (including citizenship) or ethnic or national origin".[21]
I have argued this before and again last night about racism being more than colour, wasted too much time actually. I think it is mainly Americans confuse the term but certainly that ignorant and narrow definition is not exclusive to them. In Europe people are constantly being subject to racist abuse and discrimination despite being the same colour and religion as their new country, usually White Christians. I have seen slogans put on Polish, Romanians and Lithuanians homes saying 'foreigners out' or 'locals only', some will argue this isn't racism, it is just anti immigration. BUT it is technically and legally racism and feels like it to them but especially if it specifically targets and singles out them 'No Polish' 'Romanian Out' for example.
That example is a general racism towards Baltic and Eastern Europeans but I think there is many people that will blanket general racist comments or opinions towards South America, there doesn't need to be a specific 'Race' to be racist in fact your average Racist isn't that intelligent and can't pick up on the multicultural and diverse make up of most Nations, they can easily fire out ignorant general stereotypes to a group of different people as if they are all the same. There is some educated and professional white Brazilians that will be racist towards those that live in the favelas, possibly even calling them filthy animals. Colby just isn't that bright or specific enough, the fact that a lot on here will use this to argue again and again just highlights they are not worth our time.
