"Better to be atheist than hypocritical Christian" -- Pope

@ripskater @Thurisaz - does the Bible have anything in it about paying a living wage? Serious question.
James 5:4New International Version (NIV)
4 Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty.

The same guy who says we shouldn't build a wall while he lives behind walls.

Edit: And before someone bitches about that not being the current Pope:

What do you think of the early Church in the book of Acts pooling their money and distributing it to those in need, seemingly advocating some sort of socialist community?

Sounds like it was voluntary.

Let us know when he decides to sell the billions of dollars in assets owned by church and gives it to the needy.

Until then it's better to be an atheist than The Pope.

Tell the Pope to keep our fuckin' name out his mouf. ^^^^And yes, sell off his holdings, too.

Thanks Rip. I sincerely appreciate your expertise in this.

Definitely voluntary, though this may be viewed as a commentary on which economic system is advocated by the Bible as most Christian.

I'm not saying this, per se, just throwing it out there.

Sounds to me like a church running a charity and ministry. The money is given freely and not taken by the IRS to be wasted in bureaucracy in Washington DC

While I agree with the Pope's statement, TS fucked up the whole thread with a "quote" that is not a quote.

Do you understand that when you put something in quotes, it's supposed to be a fucking quote? You just made that shit up with your own interpretation and attributed it to the Pope. That's called LYING.

Right, there was no government because they self-governed, but this verse seems to imply something more than charity:

Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common. And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all. Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold, and laid them at the apostles’ feet; and they distributed to each as anyone had need.

Doesn't this sound a bit like communism? Without the use of force, of course.

Ok, I see what you're saying. Yes but the difference is they did it willingly.

They were also united in belief, one heart one soul. The USA is not, and it would not work here. Not only that, too many freeloaders that it would collapse.

There's nothing biblical or Jesus like about the Vatican and where the pope worships. They worship snakes because that's what they are.

There's nothing more satanic then Pedophilia.

Right, you either do that or you go to hell, sounds voluntary.

Agreed. Can't help but wonder if the church should more closely follow this example.

That escalated quickly. Not sure why you would draw such a conclusion.

Religion is compulsory by nature, the only difference is that some religions demand an earthly punishment, while others reserve the punishment for the afterlife.
