Ariel is a horrible reporter

No.

Ariel was shooting his show's weekly segment, "Combat Cooking" where he invites fighters on to share and prepare their favorite recipes.

They were cutting up a lot of onions and, understandably, Ariel's eyes were watering profusely.

Haters have used this GIF out of context to portray Hellboy as some kind of big, weepy pussy.

Hopefully this sets the record straight.

My fav episode was Matt Serra complaining that the water wasn't heating up enough to cook pasta correctly
He was going ballistic

As a reporter, isn't his job to report news?

If he has a big story like the Brock appearance, why should he keep that quiet?
Because they fucking told him too that's why. You try to act all hard and shit that's what happens then next thing you know you got gifs of you crying like a bitch circling around

His whole waffle after 199 really put me off.

Also I do find the show to be too long. Its longer than some.events sometimes

He had the right to report it, but ... he could have easily said "Major name added to UFC 200 to be announced tonight" & please everyone.
He was sitting backstage in the UFC press catering area when he sent out the tweet ... I would be pissed as well if I was Lorenzo.
Also his crying that he "couldn't do his job" was BS
He could still report on MMA & do his online shows.
The only thing that changed would be being a bigshot & getting freebies on UFC's dime.

Anyone remember the interview he did with Arlovski's ex. He mentioned the 'how's taste' line and her new douchebag boyfriend got so insecure and mad, it was hilarious.

Is this a real topic?

Ariel is a bad reporter partly due to his show having "bad music" and his show being too long? I think the music lasts like 20 seconds.

MMA Hour is the best podcast there is and he always has excellent guests.

You can say he's an instigator but one of the things Ariel does is try to give all fighters a chance to garner interest by giving listeners the shit they love - the dirt and some feuds. There's times I get tired of some of his questions, and you can tell the fighter doesn't want to go that route, but Ariel's pretty much promoting these fighters, often times more so than UFC does.

Ariel has a very special role and he's excellent at it.

Sorry, I have broken down your post to answer only this sentence.

Yeah right. You created your Sherdog account 6 years ago. 6 years before that, Ariel Helwani created JarryPark.com, a MMA site dedicate to interviews with fighters. That's 12 years ago, when there was NO MONEY at all in MMA reporting. He did it on his own, with little help and no investment that we are aware of.

Of course, you can launch yourself in a "Jew Conspiracy Theory" to explain it but you can't deny the facts: Ariel has been an active member of the Internet MMA world since the early days, when we didn't even know Sherdog existed (I didn't back in 2004). And I'm not talking about creating a forum account and calling other users "tool" for a living: I'm talking creating his own website, doing the legwork to get interviews with popular fighters and posting them for free, for all to enjoy ASAP.

He was basically establishing himself as "The Man", half a decade before you created you beloved Sherdog account. That was Ariel's goal, to be "The Man". 12 years later, he has never NOT won Journalist of the Year and he's The Man, no quotation marks required. You can blame him and say "what an opportunist, he knew back in 2004 that UFC would be sold for 4B and become an established brand all over the World". If that's being an opportunist, I want to be one too!

Encyclopedic MMA knowledge doesn't make you an expert if you just throw it around to make you feel superior and call everyone who disagrees a "tool". I don't say that's what YOU'RE doing but many, many people who criticize Ariel and call him a "tool" only do that on the Internet: throw insults, end arguments feeling as they won and discarding every opinion that goes against their own.

I don't even know why I bother to write a whole essay on this: I know Shedoggers will call me a shill, a poser, a fanboy, a Ariel-lover or a "tool", that's the motto. But at least I can write a long text without throwing insults around, something maturity teaches you at some point in life.

Most Sherdoggers never reach that point. Ariel has been mature for more than a decade on the Internet. His close colleagues are not. Let's take Luke Thomas for example: encyclopedic MMA knowledge, trains BJJ regularly, knows the intricacies of striking and can discuss technique for hours. But he's not mature: he engages in insult throwing games with haters, "burns" people who disagrees with him on the Internet and uses insult every day and some. I tried listening to him but his lack of professionalism and maturity was too much for me.

As for you Rimbrd, congrats: your long text was asinine but at least, there were no free insults and name-calling in there. There is hope for you yet and I have learned to respect that, hence the long post.

Sorry.

We found Ariel's sherdog account

Luke Thomas, Ariel's colleague, is the single most preposterous individual in this sport.

Ariel said he wasn't interested in MMA, out of his own mouth, in multiple interviews. Check the first episode of Chael Sonnen's podcast for an easy reference.

He verbatim says Howard Cosell was his idol, and his dream to call sports. He didn't care which - he went into MMA because it was a an opportunity to get in on the ground floor. The sport, or any combat sports, wasn't what interested him. It was access to the job.

Also, you are either on mushrooms or a crazy person for the nutty diatribe you wrote. Wow.

He is right. Ariel is to "MMA Media" what TMZ is to the news media. The guy knows nothing about mma beyond the surface level. He is the most bias reporter out there, giving personal preference to guys he like. khen has he attacked anyone he likes?

The whole CM Punk fiasco shows this clearer than at any other moment. He will defend him against any attack, and why? Because they are good friends. He will never attack Conor because Conor gives him access. And worst of all, he tried to pretend like he was an impartial journalist while the UFC was paying him. If you have any respect as a reporter, you have to disclose that you are paid by the very thing you are covering.

It is sad because there are much better guys out there. But with anything in life, if you can cater to the lowest common denominator, you will become the most popular.

Because they fucking told him too that's why. You try to act all hard and shit that's what happens then next thing you know you got gifs of you crying like a bitch circling around
the fact that you think ariel was trying to "act all hard and shit" shows what a retard you are

Shertards think being uneducated, a classless boar, politically incorrect, and eating bacon cheeseburgers for breakfast are the key requirements for being a MMA journalist or having any involvement with MMA that has no direct connection to actually fighting. They think these are the requirements for being almost anything because then they won't have to make any extra efforts.

It's very high school-ish. Shertards really think the geek/nerd will not be their boss one day.

Hence their antipathy toward Ariel. Ariel is the reality check.

Ariel put in the work to be where he is today. Something shertards are incapable of doing.

Ariel reaps the rewards. He will go to every iconic MMA event for the next 30 years while shertards are looking for streams.

Ariel hangs out with fighters while sheratrds jizz if they see BJ at an airport.

Ariel is married and has two kids. Shertards are incels.

Ariel is better than you.

The guy is unfortunately representative of a blogger/promoter masquerading as a journalist. It muddies the waters.

He's a literal UFC shill. UFC signed his paychecks at FOX and got him fired when they didn't like what he was saying. He also allowed fighters to vet his questions and became their friend, both of which are big no-no's. He admitted that Ronda would look over his questions to her and edit whatever she wished, throwing out questions she didn't like. Did the same shit concerning Travis Browne so Ronda would keep the couple on-message.

When Zuffa manhandled him and threw him out of the arena, they had every right to. His "news" leak was unnecessary, and I agree with Zuffa that it would have a bigger pop if we all got the info together when Brock's face showed up on the video.

Him crying about it on his show was even worse. He was violating every journalistic code taught to him, but as soon as it became convenient, he took the journalism high road and cried about Zuffa not letting him to his job. In the meantime it was revealed he was promoting for the company and paid by them.

That's the shit that fans don't understand. They either don't care about the profession of journalism or don't even know what it entails. Ariel having an adversarial relationship with the UFC is actually a good thing, him whining about losing access after all the years of shilling is not.

I think he's a super nice guy and likeable but he really is a terrible reporter imo.

1. He does not really do anything but scratch the surface on interviews and resorts to instigation with fighters

2. That show he has and the God awful music. It's boring and too long, I can't stand it more than 2mins

3. His beef with ufc is annoying as he takes a bunch of weak shots at Rogan and ufc. He's also a baby, lost credentials and rightfully so. They asked him for a favor to keep Brock news quiet and he had to report anyways. I would have as a fan found out on PPV.

Only reason ufc looked bad in all of that was admitting they took his credentials for that reason. I would have rather they quietly did it out the blue a month later.

Nice guy but he's horrible!!

Agree.

I think he's absolutely awful at his job.

Only in a ridiculous sport like MMA could a media member of such little substance or credibility become so popular.

Idiotic press conference questions, endless & pointless pro wrestling comparisons, tear-stained on-air pity parties, never-ending whining whenever anyone doesnt concur with his infantile view of things...

Also, a paid shill who pretended he wasnt.

Also a "journalist" who cant write, isnt remotely witty or intelligent, and produces nothing except tedious interviews. He's more of a TV presenter than he is a "journalist", dont know why he even calls himself one.

Is Joe Rogan a journalist too then? He interviews people for a video podcast. Is Karen Bryant a journalist?

Helwani. An absolute joke of a human being.

He is a great instigator lol. He kept setting sage up for an angry response and never got one. "So if it safe to say he crossed the line " lmao

Yeah I don't mind an instigator stirring up some drama to keep things from getting too boring.

Ariel is a passionate fan. He asks the questions fans want, I like him

Nice guy but he's horrible!!

He's better than most. That chap, Ron Kruck, asks the most inane questions at pressers and has the most cheesiest, REPORTER'S VOICE of the professional question askers.

He does the MMA Hour on Monday, Thomas does his own show on Tuesday? and then they go over what they talked about on the Wednesday with the two others. Probably a bit of over kill, but the option is there not to watch.

Just on a bit of an unrelated note: the photographer for MMAFighting put up a montage of pictures she took on youtube and narrated over them like a narrator in a porno.
