“A-Level athlete” talk needs to STOP

True, but of all popular sports, its the one where physiologically it provides the most benefit to MMA if crossed over.
High levels of Conditioning and Explosion.
Tall and long reach for their height, while weighing less.

Better not inform Cormier about this and you should reiterate it to Struve.

Imagine Michael Jordan or Kobe at 205. 2-3x the athletic ability that Jon Jones has. Killer instinct, mentally steeled. 84" reach (Jordan) Kobe (83"). Much better balance than Jon Jones, & Quicker. Legendary work ethics.

Granted they'd have develop actual mma skill, but that's a given. The point is the potential. If someone that athletically gifted went the mma route and excelled, they'd be the GOAT.

You pointed out two outliers. Look at the forest, not just trees that look different from the rest of the forest.

How many stocky fighters are at the top levels of mma? 5-10? Maybe. Lean, tall for the weight fighters? 5-10x that amount easily.

If you were an A level athlete you wouldn't waste time on MMA.

I remember Joey Porter of the Steelers having some skills, years ago when he got into it with some Browns rb.

Now were comparing Lomachennko with ODB? 5 years of dance is kinda fruity yes, and dudes a foreign manlet, not some hair dye sportin Michael Jackson wannabe. 99 percent sounds realistic too lol. You realize those guys wear pads and shit right?
You do realize you'd would be crying after an hour of practicing with any NFL teams right? or college teams.. or any decent highschool program..

You're in a box of only thinking fighters are tough.
Try playing hockey, try playing football, play basketball at the local courts near the park. see how many elbows to the chest you take in 10 minutes

“Bro, can you imagine if Lebron or Odell trained mma??? They’d clean up the whole heavyweight division!”

Could this be possible? Sure! Do we know if Lebron would crumble after one punch to the chin? NO. Do we know if he’d have killer instinct? NO. Could he face adversity and come back? WHO KNOWS.

Let’s stop acting like any athlete with training would immediately be elite.

People who are bigger, stronger, faster, quicker and more coordinated than the rest, tend to excel in physical activities. It doesn’t mean that they will always be the best, but the odds are in their favor. I would’ve to have seen a Ray Lewis or Bo Jackson type in mma.

Basketball, football, baseball players are not A level athletes. Gymnasts are A level athletes. It still doesn't guarantee that top gymnasts would be top fighters. Fight IQ, chin will always be a question. The rest - will for a hard work, pain treshold, flexibility, cardio, unreal power to weight ratio and athleticism is all there.
