I think this is an error of epic proportions on their part due to the obvious balance of power concerns.

But assuming there was no rule in place and assuming the player was at the age of consent I do not see how the lawsuit in question has a leg to stand on. Unless some jury just decides to find guilty on the "ick" factor.

The Ohio State diver first reported Bohonyi’s alleged abuse in 2014. She was 17 at the time, and claims Bohonyi forced her into numerous sexual acts, and into sending him hundreds of naked photos. She said she was sent home from a meet in Tennessee after telling her head coach about the allegations, while Bohonyi was allowed to stay.

(7) The offender is a . . . coach or other person serving in a school for which the state board prescribes minimum education standards . . . the (victim) is enrolled in or attends that school, and the offender is not enrolled in and does not attend that school.

(8)The (victim) is a minor, the offender is a . . . coach or other person in authority employed by or serving in an institution of higher education, and the (victim) is enrolled in or attends that school.

(9) the (victim) is a minor, and the offender is the person's athletic or other type of coach . . .

Also, sexual coercion, unwanted sexual contact that arises from threat or intimidation, is a crime in plenty of jurisdictions. It wouldn't matter that the diver was over the age of consent if the sexual contact arose from the coach's threat to negatively interfere with her diving career.

Also, sexual coercion, unwanted sexual contact that arises from threat or intimidation, is a crime in plenty of jurisdictions. It wouldn't matter that the diver was over the age of consent if the sexual contact arose from the coach's threat to negatively interfere with her diving career.

Almost all of these cases at the very least pay out civilly. This is quid pro quo sexual harassment at the least, and I’m sure we will hear allegations of rape at its worst.
