Zookeeper Gabe's Animal Thread V6.0

At that distance a gun wouldn't matter, odds of you stopping it dead in it's tracks is nill to none.
Yeah, he was done if that bear wanted to "play".

I'm guessing he wasn't as threatened as he might've been because the Bears were stuffed on salmon. Reminded me of that polar bear that was petting the sled dog. He was a big softy until his stomach started growling.

Still has me wondering is those guys pack heat or are just hoping nothing bad ever happens.

Still freaking epic to be that close to a Grizzly bear just chilling, Then you see a whole valley of them down there catching Salmon. I love that sight would like to see it. Bears usually only attack when threatened with Cubs or super hungry. This guy probably knew they were just eating Salmon annually style.
He's a particularly good looking bear, too.

There are so many Salmon that eventually they only eat their eyeballs skin and eggs. However sometimes food gets low and they have to dive to the bottom to eat Dead Salmon. The Bear that ate Timothy Treadwell was old and hungry and was filmed doing that.

@Zookeeper Gabe

Kind of a dumb question, but what do you guys use in snake enclosures? The reason I ask is because I always remember as a young kid my buds and I (I know it's not right we were young and stupid) would always tap on the glass to try to get the venomous snakes to strike. They never did. Is it double-sided, tinted, or do the snakes just not care?
They just don't care for the majority of the time.

So having watched the bear chilling video posted 1hr ago, probably made youtube recommend the below video to me. I thought it was funny.

Lol. @jefferz I don't even have to click on the video. Know exactly which one it is from the screen shot.

This is Stanley our new skunk, he's still not super thrilled about being picked up. He will get there

This is Susie my favorite chicken, she's rad as shit. She will hang out in my lap but doesn't really like anybody else.

Have you guys seen this dude on YouTube called viperkeeper? Nuts.

I've encountered black bears several times with no apprehension because they're easily intimidated. But a brown or grizzly bear near my vicinity would make me shit my pants.

Hahaha.. I laughed more than I should have. Seems to be slightly under 2 years old from their size. I only understood 40% of what the caretaker was saying though but she was legit frustrated at the end. But I'm sure she will love them and her job to go through this presumingly daily.

My friend is a panda keeper at national zoo in DC. I got to go behind the scenes and hangout with them. Not very bright but very cute.

900 dogs in a park! If there's a heaven, I bet it looks like this.

@jefferz

I know you've had Mantis Shrimp before, but did you ever see the spearing kind.

I've never seen a full grown one, all the ones I've seen are 3-4 inches.
It's crazy how they went from being the worst possible thing to have in your tank that everybody killed immediately to divers actually collecting them and people paying $80+ for them.
I wouldn't ever own one. They stay in their burrow 99% of the time and only come out to feed. You can't keep anything else in there tank either.
