Zookeeper Gabe’s Animal Thread Vol 9.0

Asian Arowana's are illegal AF in the US, they're a CITES fish. You're probably going to federal prison if you get caught with one. There are captive bred Asian Arowana's, but the US still doesn't allow them, and you'll be prosecuted the same as if you broke CITES law.
You can buy silver or jardini Arowana's though.
Asian Arowana's like what we have now are a "living fossil" and have been around for a couple of million years (estimates are from 1-3 million)

Cheetahs return to India 70 years after being declared extinct

Cheetahs have been reintroduced to India - a controversial move that comes seven decades after being declared extinct.

Eight of the big cats were flown 5,000 miles from Namibia as part of a 13-year project to restore the species to the country.

It is the first time the animals have been moved across continents to be released.

The eight radio-collared African cheetahs were taken to Kuno National Park in central India with their arrival coinciding with the 72nd birthday of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who released the first cat on Saturday.

Another 12 cheetahs are expected to join the group next month from South Africa amid hopes the population will eventually reach 40.

The cheetahs - five females and three males - arrived after a two-day plane and helicopter journey from the African savannah and will remain in a restricted area for several weeks before their wider release.

If all goes as planned, the cats will eventually be released to run through 5,000 square km (2,000 square miles) of forest and grassland, sharing the landscape with leopards, sloth bears and striped hyenas.

Hey I heard they changed the Aussie Shepard dog breed into the American Shepard dog breed.

Now what in the blue hell is that. Who decides these things and how? How can this get done but we can’t get the K out of knife??

Technically, Australian Shepherds we're American creations, but the standard 50ish lbs ones are still considered 'Australian' as far as I know. The 'Americans' are the miniature versions.

@Zookeeper Gabe is that a tit? Looks like it might be a tit to me?

I like tits. I find the variety of them very interesting. Different sizes, different shapes.

Do you also like tits Gabe? Would you want more tits in the world?
I know a tit when I see one sir and that is clearly a hummer.

I have nothing rare at the moment, but I am cycling a tank for Xenotoca doadrioi, the San Marcos Goodeid. They're from Jalisco, Mexico and critically endangered due to habitat loss. They're not common in the aquarium trade, but you can get captive bred fish. Most of the Goodeids species are critically endangered, or extinct, but are being bred by hobbyist. Goodeids are more popular in Europe than the US.

I love these, but they are also a species that is frequently illegally trafficked lizards. They have started popping up in the pet trade and almost all are from illegal sources
Have you worked with them? How big do they get?
