@Zookeeper Gabe, would that bird normally be on the diet for that type of turtle or is that indicative of maybe an injured turtle that has become more opportunistic in its prey due to injury or other and now choosing a food that has no natural fear drive of the predator as its not a historical predator of them??

Every time I see someone who posts about killing spiders I hope their house gets infested with ants/roaches etc.
The army of cellar spiders in my house actually helped a bunch for a recent influx of carpenter ants and helped avoid an application of poison.

@MikeMcMann most turtles are opportunistic feeders and if they see an easy chance for a big meal they will take it.

Yup.

I say it all the time. If spiders are surviving in your house (particularly basement) then you likely need them. Spiders die and turn into little tumbleweeds real quick if they cannot find regular food and the types of food they get in your house are almost certainly worse to have in the house than spiders. Roaches, ants, flies, etc will all get into your food stores, etc and cause problems.

But i do get a laugh at how emotional and irrational people get over spiders with the whole 'nuke the planet stuff'.

Jumping spiders can look extremely cute in pictures and - at least the smaller ones - should also be tolerable irl.

This on the other hand is definitely a kill-it-with-fire/nuke-it-from-orbit for me.
