I personally agree that we need to keep PED's out of the sport... but the crazed raves he goes on are hilarious & ripe for the rippin'. so it's no contrast to haze Hunt a bit for his over the top antics & still rip on Bones. The problem is if people were serious about getting PED's out of MMA they wouldn't mock him so much because he makes valid arguments from his perspective.

You "pro PED" guys need to get serious.

Simply dropping testing is slippery slope, has life altering consequences and greatly changes the culture of MMA, and possibly becomes a continuing science experiment. This is a sport about technique and character, not designer drugs.

Educated and experienced people need to find a healthy and safe middle ground.

What you don't seem to appreciate is that having a mushy middle-ground actually increases the likelihood of those things coming into play, because some fighters cheat (or to a greater degree), while others will handicap themselves because of the rules.

The issue isn't pro-PEDs or anti-PEDs. It's about having a level playing field for the fighters. With a mushy middle you are more likely to see fights where one fighter is boosted while the other is not (or less so), which actually increases the *influence* of PEDs...even if fewer fighters overall are juicing.

It's sort of like traffic lights. Everyone, no matter their tolerance for risk and conscientiousness stops at red lights. Everyone also goes through green lights. But with yellow lights, some people step on the gas to shoot through it while others slow down while others stop entirely.

Agreed. I kind of don't care about steroids, on a personal level, as a fan. But I do understand a fighter's need to feel like there's an even playing ground. So I agree with punishment for cheaters who do it intentionally, but not because of my views on steroids, more just because of my views on fairness.

It's like jaywalking to me. I don't care about it and I even do it. If I get a ticket I understand that was the risk I took by jaywalking. But I'll never be philosophically against it. I just understand a basic need for traffic flow order and on those grounds I accept the fairness of getting a ticket.

So I've always appreciated Hunt's circular conversation about poop chutes, bums, needles, or actually "bloody needles" as much as I've appreciated the view of guys who say "look, 90% of my competition is cheating so I need to be on an even playing field". They're both trying to establish an even playing field and it's not easy work.
