Movies Your top 5 movies all time!

Jaws
Goodfellows
Exorcist
Stand By Me
Dead Poets Society

Followed closely by
Halloween
American Werewolf In London
Fletch
Stir Crazy
Duel

I figured you would never be able to limit yourself to an actual top five. Weren't we talking about top 100's last time... Admirable discipline.

I enthusiastically endorse your selections of Jaws, Fletch and The Exorcist.

Bit like that time we were talking about greatest B movie actors and the list ran to around 200

I genuinely love watching Robin Williams perform, he reaches a place in me that not many other actors can. I reckon John Candy was on his way to becoming as great an actor as Robin Williams

Oh yeah bro that was you. You ever finalize the order?

For the most part there have been a lot of unpretentious replies to this thread. I think that's pretty unusual for a thread about movies ...

Godfather
Godfather II
Dr. Strangelove
A Clockwork Orange
Trainspotting

Hard to pick just five, but those are all up there.

What's that beyond the valley about sir?
Beyond the Valley of the Dolls is another Russ Meyer film (like Faster, Pussycat… from my list). Amazingly, the script was written by Roger Ebert. Every time I saw some movie review where Ebert was being an old stuffy snob, I thought of that. Ebert gave Natural Born Killers 2 stars, and I just thought “Wtf?? Aren’t you the fucker that wrote Beyond the Valley of the Dolls??? Wtf happened to you?” <45>

Anyhoo, the movie follows this wholesome chick rock n roll band as they start making Hollywood connections and becoming successful, and all of the fucked up, drug-fueled sex, violence and backstabbing that goes along with that. It’s kind of noteworthy because part of the film is non-linear, that is, you see something happen that is not in the true time sequence. It’s not as drastic as Pulp Fiction would be 20 years later, but still rather groundbreaking I suppose. Fantastic soundtrack too.

Alien(s)
Terminator
Casablanca
Braveheart
It's a Wonderful Life

Could be added on a different day:
Jaws
Shawshank
Last of The Mohicans
The Maltese Falcon
The Shining

I was just about to say the opposite, LOL. A ton of pretentious bullshit in this thread.

Another group of 5.

The Matrix
Interstellar
Léon: The Professional
WALL-E
Willow
I actually like the Professional better than “Leon”, or whatever they want to call the longer version.

I almost never like “Director’s Cuts” more than their theatrical versions. Director’s Cuts, to me, almost always prove why editors are so important.

Great synopsis sir, and it sounds interesting enough to give a chance.
Ebert writing it makes me want to see it that much more lol.

Yeah he's so relatable in every role.
Candy was the man in a different way.
I genuinely love watching Robin Williams perform, he reaches a place in me that not many other actors can. I reckon John Candy was on his way to becoming as great an actor as Robin Williams

Things to do in Denver when you're dead.
(Wicked underrated movie)
Great cast.

Stand by me.
Great cast, damn good acting, and we all need a friend like Chris.

Blood in blood out.
Great story and relatable characters at least for me.

Basquiat
Great cast, great acting and as an artist myself what's not to love.

Gangster #1
Great acting by the lead (Paul Bettany), and a different take on the gangster film.

Goonies
Who doesn't love the fuckin goonies

Godfather 1&2 (obviously) whoever don't like these should drawn and quartered lol.

Goodfellas
Amazing cast, acting and story.

Harlem Nights
A barn burner of a comedy, with and absolutely killer cast.

Pollack
Great acting (Ed Harris), awesome story, and again, as an artist it is fire.

The Abyss
Great cast, awesome story (Ed Harris)

Smoke signals
Good cast, and awesome story....fantastic ending if you let it marinate.

History of the world Part 1
Funny ass movie with a damn good cast.

Spaceballs
Whoever don't think this shit is funny, I honest think you might be dead lol.

Surviving Picasso
(Anthony Hopkins) need I say more...really

Tap
Good cast, story line is a little wonky but the overall is good.

Beat Street
If you don't know....you should.

Gladiator
Great cast, acting, battle scenes, and who doesn't want to fuckin kill Joaquin Phoenix in that movie lmao

The original Star Was Trilogy
...all the others suck cock and not in a good way lol.

Scarface
Still a good movie

Full Metal Jacket
I still watch this whole movie.

Shit I could on all day because I have so many that I like, but these are my favorites...as in the ones I have re-watched the most.

Edit: Amelie
