Your Top 5 GOAT Films?

  • Seven Samurai (1954)
  • 12 Angry Men (1957)
  • Network (1976)
  • Pulp Fiction (1994)
  • Kung Fu Hustle (2004)

I know that there are lot of GOAT-tier movies out there, but this is challenge for you. Let's narrow it down to your top 5.

Not your "favorite 5", but your top 5 movies ever in terms of quality or how great, memorable, and effective these films are to you. Don't put movies you haven't watched!

This was an important distinction you made; but looking at the answers so far, most have ignored/missed the point, and will just name their favourites.

'Moon' 'Not another teen movie' ????

GOAT movies? Fuck, too difficult.

Off top of head:

Citizen Kane

2001

The Godfather

Casablanca

Shawshank redemption

(Western hemisphere ftw)

I haven't seen that bro. I wouldn't have guessed a filmed called Sorcerer would be a Wages of Fear remake. It seems to be pretty highly rated though so maybe I'll check it out

Pretty fantastic film, not an ATG by any means but very underrated. Fits nicely with other 'existential thrillers' set in the jungle like Aguirre, Apocalypse Now and Fitzcarraldo. I've not actually seen the original Wages of Fear (to my shame) so not sure how it compares, but obviously you know the rough plot....Sorcerer has some incredibly set-pieces though, the bridge scene in particular.

1. The Mirror
2. There Will Be Blood
3. Last Year at Marienbad
4. The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover
5. 2001: A Space Odyssey

Don't think I can narrow it to five or in any particular order but here are a few gems:

Deer Hunter - Prolly the top of my list
Breaking Away
Scarface
The Birds - Had to throw in a Hitchcock film, can substitute numerous films here
Dr. No

My 4 favs would be

1. Godfather
2. Godfather II
3. Goodfellas
4. Saving Private Ryan

#5 could either be Dark knight, Logan, Gladiator, dumb and dumber or matrix

The Importance of Being Ernest x 5

Honestly though whilst I would probably still say Blade Runner as my favourite a top 5 would be pretty pointless and arbitrary, probably just end up as stuff I'd seen more recently.

In no particular order:

Blood In Blood Out
Shawshank Redemption
Braveheart
The Road
Any Audrey Hepburn film

Lmao most of that movie is fucking terrible imo, but I almost died laughing at the end of the Anna Farris/Chris Pratt sketch.

Really?

For me it was Hugh Jackman's neckballs

Just when I thought Hugh couldn't get any sexier....
