Your thoughts on Kyler?

I actually really like Kyler Phillips. I have been very impressed with both fights of his that I have seen.
Frankly, I expected to dislike him because of his hair and his name, but his style is super dynamic and he seems pretty athletic and well rounded. I think he has a bright future.

I found him by accident because of the other Kyler. But he is really good and I am surprised I didn't hear from him earlier.

Hes good. I think he'll surprise a lot of people coming up the ranks. Him and Adrian Yanez are 2 of the top BW prospects in my opinion.

He's definitely a solid prospect, Assuncao will be too much for him but he'll bounce back soon enough.
I agree a little too much too soon unless Assuncao has fallen off a cliff. I expect Kyler to lose a competitive decision, but he’s going to come out of it with little if any drop in his stock

The villain from Cobra Kai? He's a can. Dimitri probably beats him.

That was the literal reason why I discovered him. Season 4 got done filming and Joe Seo ( actor of Kyler) posted a picture on his Instagram with him and the cast at a dinner. Now cobra kai is lightly trending and in part so is Kyler. Curios to know what I could find about him and instead Kyler Philips came and I liked what I saw but a bit odd that he is not that well known.

So many fighters means that its hard to keep up with everyone. In 2000s you had fewer weight classes/No WMMA and less events which means you really got to know the fighters because there was also no real social media stars. It was actors, musicians, athletes as celebrities for most parts. Now anyone can become famous which means its hard to follow who is who.

You are brutally honest, and I really appreciate that. You’re the exact opposite of me. I need to work on that.
Thanks Sherbro, that's nice of you to say. I'm actually working on being a little more diplomatic. I think you're a great poster already, but yeah, definitely speak your mind.

What do you think about him and his future? Does he have a shot to make it big?
Too small for the NFL. Should've taken the mlb 1st round draft pick money contract. He's gonna get his body wrecked in the next few years.

He has a loss to Victor Henry who I think is the superior prospect

Assuncao hasn't fallen of the big cliff. But I think he's on the decline. Kyle can get it done if he has the right approach. Assuncao should still be the favorite though.

I’m not a fan. Not convinced he can crack the top 10-15 at all.
He should beat Assuncao , but he isn’t going to beat the likes of Simon, Font, Moraes.

Fights with Kenney and Vera would reveal his level.

Damn how many Pettis bros are there?
Very many of them as his real last name is Perez not Pettis. He came up with that fake name from the lack of ability to pronounce his own real name. It's easy to "roll" the r but back then he was very into trying to be as white as possible. Funny how his real "heritage" came to light when UFC started the Mexico and latin market push.

Common man! But thanks dude

He's the God of war, so pushing prospects is part of his m.o. I believe, plus he's good at it. I for one love having him around because I myself enjoy seeing new blood bringers from around the world.

He's a far better prospect than FraudMalley, that's for sure.

But on a serious note, I really think he's one of if not the best prospect in 135 right now.
Why to you think O'Malley is a fraud?

He looked okay, but he doesn't have a functional attack. Most of his offense came from weird combos; stupid things you'd see Carlos Condit throw.

What do you think about him and his future? Does he have a shot to make it big?
I certainly believe so -- he is very well rounded -- good wrestling, strong BJJ base, and clean striking. He outclassed Yadong Song everywhere in his last fight.
