Your thoughts after Diaz/McGregor RD1

According to Nate Diaz, it was the knee to the body that changed the fight. Nate said that he heard Conor grunt loudly after the knee landed.

nice one, if you rewatch the fight and turn up the volume you can hear it aswell !

As a Nate fan I was worried a bit. Conor looked good in round 1. But then Nate looked at the camera in between rounds and smiled, and I was just like, ok GG.

ontopic: " please dont stop this due to a cut , nate you got this "

Conor was way too wild and agressive; he won the battle but I thought Nate would grind him down and win the war. Honestly I thought Nate would destroy him in the championship rounds, I thought Conor would at least last the first the first two rounds.

Good round but I was getting a little worried how often Conor was missing with those huge lefts.

Still thought he could stop him in the 2nd but that quickly evaporated as he started getting tagged more meaningfully and dropping his hands / looking lazy.

"Wow this is really living up to the hype. Conor is lighting up Nate at will." Honestly some of the shots Conor landed would have KO'd most fighters. The Diaz brothers just have these chins made of granite. Along with Cardio for days and good boxing. I think Conor broke after the first round when he hit him with everything he had and it didn't hurt Nate.

Exact thoughts and feelings were something to the extent of "FUCK, we have a fight on our hands!"

Thought Conor won the first round and that he was performing really well.

I did not think that Conor looked THAT tired after the first round to be honest.

John however said that Conor was breathing very heavy after that first round and that it shocked him.

I watched the fight three times and while Diaz did get hit if you watch carefully Conor didn't connect with too many good shots in the first round he even said it him self he was missing heaps and hitting gloves.

Conor hit him more in Rd2 then in Rd1 imo.

What was going through your head after the first round?

I was surprised at how easily Conor was hitting Diaz, and also that Diaz was taking the shots pretty well. He didn't look hurt. Was really hoping the fight wouldn't be stopped due to the cut.
I expected Conor to land more in round 2 and possibly put Diaz away, but he had no gas left, especially after started landing the 1-2s.

After the 1st round, which I did think Conor won, I expected Nate to come into the 2nd stronger, even as I worried about how the no camp deal would affect his cardio. It was clear that Conor was trying really hard for the KO, but aside from cutting Nate, he just wasn't hurting him. When Conor got wobbled in the 2nd, I knew the end was near for him.

being gassed and being damaged are two completely different animals. it can look the same, but in no universe was conor gassed barely halfway through round 2. he was not physically exhausted. he was not cardiovascularly compromised. he was not TOO TIRED TO FIGHT. that's what gassed means. being gassed has everything to do with fitness and nothing to do with being damaged.

Fun round. Fun fight overall. We were promised a throwdown, and we got one.

I feel Nate was in control in the sense of pacing the fight, letting McG punch himself out. It is often what the diaz bros do.

I was surprised at how conor was landing on nate. The cut he gashed in nate. But but nate was tough as hell in that fight and he just walked through conor's shots

I was happy with the damage being done and thought Diaz had been hurt on numerous occasions, especially the body shot, which Conor really should have followed up on.

But I was very concerned about Conor's desicion to just wade in with his hands down and I also thought it was strange to see him throw his punches so hard compared to his usual style, I wonder if he subconsciously thought he would need to land with something huge to put Diaz away.

I hope he has really learned some lessons from this loss because he has too much ability to start head hunting and looking for the KO with every punch.

I said it to the person next to me right before it started, I thought Capoeira Kick... and within seconds Conor goes for is a big Capoeira Kick.

So I was thinking he'd go back to that... but then those big Bolo Uppercuts were looking dangerous, sneaking through.

Immediate thought after looking at Conor sitting on the stool was he looks a bit tired but it's only the 1st round done. During the round I kept thinking he's going for the Hollywood KO and even though Diaz' face is usually cut up win or lose I thought for a moment 'ah fuck, he's bleeding already. Hope they don't stop this for a bad cut'

The thread that says that Conor won the first round was a myth is a bit daft. Haven't read anything that makes me think otherwise. There was someone who breaking down the fight (can't remember who) who pointed out Diaz used the shoulder roll like in Boxing that made a few shots miss seems to be over-looked - looking back it was very crafty of Diaz, where a lot of fighters would raise their guard up. That's one of the few times I've seen someone use that and their height to their advantage.

Nate could win this, the shots arent seemingly hurting him but they exchanging 1 for 1 and nate loves thst shit. I hope nate doesn't gas.

(Had money on nate so was very focused on him)

Thought Herb would earn a little side money and stop the fight because of the cut.

Oh and cant remember if it was first or second but nate touched his eye about 4 times in 20 seconds and it concerned me. Dudes a bleeder but if you cant you cant fucking see.
