I'm a little sad at the lack of love for Boyhood up in here.

Didn't live up to the hype for me and felt like it dragged on a bit without much really happening. Cool idea for a movie though.

Looks like the comic book movies will split the vote. I went with TWS. It's on my short list for best superhero movie of all time.

I enjoyed it. Not my favorite film of the year, and perhaps overly long while also being kind of plotless, but I liked it and it's one of the most interesting film experiences I've had.

There were 2 great movies this year: Whiplash and Edge of Tomorrow. Whiplash is a close to perfect movie, which only gets better on the second and third movie.
EoT is a timeless action/sci-fi film and one of the best ones at that.

My vote has to go to Whiplash. If you haven't seen it, you really need to check it out.

Seconded. Heads and shoulders above any movie that came out that year. I think a lot of folks avoid it because they don't think jazz or Miles whatshisname are appealing, but its so much more than that.

+1 on Frank. I really enjoyed it and this song became an instant favorite of mine:

GOTG for me, must have watched that 4 million times
Man crush on Pratt and I don't care to admit it

Need to see more of these, but Maleficent and Grand Budapest hotel were good. Edge of Tomorrow and Winter Soldier were great flicks.
Snow Piercer was horrible.

I voted for Ex-Machina but then I saw It Follows was an option. Not sure I necessarily think It Follows is better but I would've thought about it more, those two are my top picks and neck an neck with each other. I think I would've voted It Follows just because I thought the main actress was cuter than the robot in Ex Machina and I hated that little cuck bitch boy in Ex-Machina.

This year and the next were some good years.

4. Exists
3. Don't Blink
2. Ouija
1. The Pyramid

Damn, I should have voted for Gone Girl, but went with GOTG. I don't know why it's that far behind a bunch of others movies, especially an overrated movie like Ex-Machina, which is a 2015 movie anyways.

Good year for action flicks, off the poll I picked guardians of the galaxy

1. The Pyramid

Oh come on, The Pyramid is an alright Z-grade horror movie. It's immensly more watchable then garbage-bin crap like Transformers: Last Knight, the pretentiously overblown Planet of the Apes, the ridicolousness of Lucy, the CGI-airhorn that was Hobbit 3, the stilted and conceptually-dull Exodus, the laughably misguided Monument Men, fucking Ouija, and about a dozen other Z-grade crap that was released this year.

Maybe I'm just mad cuz you admited to not voting Gone Girl, or maybe I just think The Pyramid was better than that.:p

We have the same answer for our top two (post #46). We're back.

I kind of expected a Kingsman vote from you but looks like we're riding together on this one.
2014 (and 2013) was such a great year that Kingsman could have been my No. 1 favorite movie in any other year.

Spoilers - Mad Max: Fury Road is gonna win the 2015 category by a wasteland mile.

I thought Hobbit 3 was the weakest of the bunch, but Martin Freeman alone makes it >>>>>>>>>> The Pyramid. I'm not sure how much I'd like The Hobbit trilogy if not for him, Gollum, and Smaug. If I'm going with a subpar, but entertaining horror movie, then I'd say As Above, So Below. I like the name and it has some good things in it like atmosphere and location. I haven't seen the Transformers: Last Knight, I still haven't seen any Planet of the Apes movie yet, the stupid premise of Lucy kept me away, and I haven't seen Exodus. My bottom 5 is done by quality and not by how much I like them. When you watch a bunch of subpar horror movies, then they all start to blend together. The alpha male does something stupid and gets injured, some sort of evil force/creature is unleashed and starts picking people off one-by-one until we're left with the dumb ho final girl.

Nice gif.

Nightcrawler is good shit

It needs more love

I hate coming in here to see that my favorite movies are not popular

Interesting. I'm not sure I've ever seen someone referencing the title as one of their reasons for liking a film.

Inherent Vice? I've heard it's terrible.

I couldn't get into it.

And I tried watching it more than once.

Nightcrawler was a great thriller. Kind of a tough watch, though, mainly because Gyllenhaal's character was such a weirdo.

I'm actually surprised at the love for It Follows.

I dug it, but I figured it was more or less a sleeper.
