Your cost of heating?

It's a pellet stove. Some will only do wood pellets. The one I have will do wood pellets, corn, soybeans, and something else I can't remember off the top of my head. The only maintenance is having to empty a tray of ashes every couple weeks, the tray is about the size of a kleenex box.

Man, I've heard some bad things about those stoves. I know a few people who've got them, and they've all had problems.

I have a straight up wood stove (disclaimer: I might be biased). It's a ton of work to harvest, split, and stack. But the pellet stoves I've known, which cost upwards of 8k, don't really sell me as being better than a 5k wood stove.

They also have to run off electric.

$250/mo when it’s bad. We run a wood stove and feed it with logs harvested for ‘free’ to keep fuel costs down. Can be as low as $35/mo if the wood stove is constantly burning.

Harvesting and processing fire wood is a SOB but it’s fun.

I haven't had a problem with mine in 5 years.

Mind if I ask the model? I'm honestly curious. Two local friends went that route. One has smoked up the place, and the other gives off a mild smell.

They might just be trash models/units.

Unfortunately, I don't know what they are off hand, but will take not best time I'm there. One was from tractor supply though, I know that. Made by King maybe.

Not sure on the model but the brand is Comfortbilt.

I got a super classic LE. Thing works great.

Like I said though, the harvesting, splitting, and stacking is a lot of work.

I only burn corn in mine so that might make a difference as well. I throw in a handful of wood pellets when the moisture content is high in the corn but I've had the same 50lbish bag for a couple years now and it's about half full.
One of the downfalls of corn is that you usually have to buy it in bulk, have some way to handle it, and have a place to store it. I'm a farmer so those things aren't an issue for me.
Burning corn does give off a smell but it's not noxious.

I live in a place that is never cold enough to require heating, but cooling costs me $50-100 a month

Gas /water \elev is all together

During the summer and fall 135 to 220
Winter- $280-400 . the gas part of it is typically 150 to 250 of those bills.

Lived in houses that it was near 700. Fucking thieves

Zip. I occasionally put an electric fan heater on , but that's it.

Heat is included in my rent so nothing. Electricity is not so summer can get more pricey with the ACs going.
