Your Career and Education Level.

I dropped out of college and am now a software engineer. I make decent money though not as much as if I lived in a tech hub, but cost of living is much lower where I am so it evens out.

I never got my grade 12, never went to college. Right now I'm a security supervisor that does not get paid good. I recently got my firearms license and am hoping to get into brinks which is armored vehicle job that pays 2x as much as I make now which I would be super happy with

join the military or suck dick.

Got a BEng (hons) in engineering following an apprenticeship. Company sponsored so zero debt.

Spent long enough working for someone else that I know it's not for me. Went back to my roots, and now run my own building company (domestic construction and alterations).

Engineering degree comes in handy for design/CAD, calculating structural members, and helped me bring lean methodology to site work.

My partner did a 6 week ice skating course and got a certificate, I joked that she could put it up on the wall with my degree so our most useless certs could be on display together.

High School Graduate, Journeyman Tradesman, various Supervision programs. Zero debt, sitting on a cool half a mill if we count stocks..? Also I'm 6'3 to give some more fuel the nay sayers

I have been with the Air Force for over 31 years now. I have a Bachelor's and a Masters degree. They were both required for advancement to senior officer ranks.

Grew up in Scandinavia, so didn't take any student loans because that isn't neccessary here if you are willing to work and live frugally (which I was, I still remember my mom paying off the final instalment of her debts at 50 and celebrating like crazy, while my dad will never be out of debt).

I stupidly got a degree in English and Philosophy, though.

I teach highschool/college and am part of the national commission that designs the study plans and exams for the subject I teach. I'm consequently in the upper half of the solid middle class, partly because my wife brought something like 320.000 dollars into the marriage (my mom spends all her money on herself and my dad is always broke - but her parents are good, generous people who want to help). We have three kids, though, and have always had to be careful with money until the last year or so. Our only debt is in the house.

My wife will be able to go down to 80% of full time after the summer to spend more time taking care of the kids and home while they are still young. Feels damn good, to be honest.

We had kids young which gave us a tough decade, but I guess it's finally paying off.

Lol that student debt thread blows my mind. I dont know why anyone would put themselves through that much schooling amd jist to start at absolute rock bottom when finished. Im a 3rd year apprentice plumber and drainlayer with no student debt. I'm not even fully certified yet and I'm absolutley raking it in, just bought my first house at 27 with a 20% down payment. Why the fark don't more people do it this way? God bless the skilled trades.

I dont get it either. i didn't know what i wanted to do , so i found a job to pay for my college and moved on. My job now required an associate's si im glad i went, and im making waaaaay more than most people i know.

I have a worthless BA in Business Management and thank god I didnt pay a penny for that thing. The deal breaker with me was the certifications I got , though. Ms excel (lol), Sap , Six sigma black belt and a few other certs got me rolling. I have friends who dropped out of college and work in my field as well and make way more than me. Hell , the wealthiest dudes from my hs class skipped college completely. Not everybody needs to get 200k in debt to get a decent job. Unless you wanna be a surgeon of course.

Got good grades at 6th form for A levels. . Went to University , hated it , quit after 1st year. Was supposed to study law but met someone in my gap year and stayed at a uni close to home and her. I never got the degree but she's still around almost 30 years on.

Do I regret it ? No , if I hadn't gone I would have wondered what if but sitting in an office shuffling papers wasn't for me.

No student debt.

Physician.
Board certed in my specialty and will get certed in two sub specialties within the year.
In school forever.
Have some debt. making minimum payments under PAYE and counting on that PSLF to hopefully wipe it out in the next few years.
Income is high. No problems paying bills. Dumping over $100k into retirement a year. Life is good. Would recommend.

You and the Pharamacist are overqualified for the Mayberry. Maybe you guys could start your own Mensa-style sub forum here, to keep the riff raff out.

I is enlish teach in high schol with harvrd edutaion.

High school grad

Manufacturing technician in the window business

Some college, left a 4.0 GPA on the table because growing up poor and early life financial responsibilities.

On my 2nd career now. Was a senior claims examiner for a major insurance company (hated my life and bad ceiling on promotion opportunity).

Cashed out my 401k and did an accelerated IT course (6 months). Got certified in a few server admin technologies.
Took a 20k/year pay cut to get an entry level IT job. Within 8 months I was doing actual server admin. Got into an emerging technology at the time (VMware virtualization) and took a position with a major company doing that for about 6 years. Now I'm a Solutions Engineer at a managed service provider making stupid money where I came from initially (rural midwest town with no real job opportunity). It's a damn stressful job and I have to know at least something about nearly everything in the IT landscape, but I wouldn't trade it for where I came from.

Bachelors degree from an online university. Been in law enforcement for 11 years. Did my four in the Marine Corps prior to that so got my education for free. If given the choice I’d likely do something else.
