I have decided that next person that call me sir i'm replying with "ma'am" and "you look tired". I concur that being called sir by younger guys is a bit weird.
That feeling when a younger guy calls you "Sir!"

I had an ex who was exactly 10 days younger than me. After my birthday we always had a running gag that I was some dirty old man. Was cute for a couple years then the dust settled.
You mean you started shedding dust with age?

I used to hear people complain about the first time they got called ‘sir’.

Don’t know about you guys but I REALLY like it when young women call me sir.

It means they respect my authority and want me to choke them in bed.

Guaran-fucking-teed.

Well being 20 if i was cald sir i would be pretty depressed... If you are over 40 you start going in the sir territory im my opinion

I get called boss a lot. Dunno why, think its an underhanded attempt at flattery by people looking to get something from you. Or maybe I'm out of touch w people, idk

Lol. Same. It’s crazy how common it is.

There are literally dozens of countries where the populace refers to each other as Senor or Senorita but please continue with your anti American rhetoric.

Calm down lol. I just associate it with America seeing as American media is so prevalent, so end up seeing it a lot.

I just find it strange that even the absolute lowest society has to offer, even the mutants having public meltdowns in Walmart's etc still get called Sir/Ma'am.

@Sir Burton

absolutely, this is the right and manly answer

No I just say excuse me or Hi.
Excuse you?
Fuck that! No excuse!

A Texan, a Russian, and a New Yorker walk into a restaurant for dinner. The waiter says:
- Excuse me, gents, we're experiencing a shortage of steaks at the moment, so, please, order something else.

Texan goes:
- What's a "shortage"?

Russian asks:
- Vot iz a "steyk"?

New Yorker says:
What's "excuse me"?!

Sir is always a great form of respect.

I’m too young to be called sir but if I get to 50 I’d like to be called sir. That’s 18 more years so a long way to go.

In school since I was like 10 years old any male teacher I liked I called sir, ones I didn’t like I just called them mr xxxx. University was clearly different where the teachers wanted to be addressed by their first names.

And right now I’ve never had anyone younger than me really address me as sir, male or female. Only really at fine dining restaurants and hotels.

Thank you for this thread Sir!

(Can I have an overly prolonged hug now?)

The most demeaning on I like to throw out there is “chief”.
