Young people in early 2000s vs now...

Fat acceptance movement, yo.

Social media is filled with fat enablers telling people it's okay to stay fat.

I'd say that fat acceptance is less a cause and more a byproduct of more people being fat.

People like eating and tend not to want to move any more than they have to. Abundance of cheap, fattening, arguably addictive foods + sedentary lifestyle = lots of fatties.

I don't have time or interest for Instagram. That and the chick is not lean and has a fat face.
You forgot about the pointy elbows, pronounced clavicle and crooked kneecaps.

Is it just me or does it feel like youngsters ( teens/20s/30s) of the past seemed way more fit and better looking? I ask because I was at a mall that I have not been in over a decade and I saw the most out of shape human beings everywhere. Meanwhile over a decade ago, everyone looked jacked or in a great shape.

I remember guys and girls looking like Paul Walker, Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling:

Most importantly, the chicks had tight bodies, small waist, thin face and a radiant look about them. Yes they are celebrities but I am comparing them to modern celebrities as oppose to the average person.

Cliffs:

-Young folks in the mid-2000 had better physique and a more muscle dense as well a symmetric look

-Todays young folks seem bulky or straight up overweight and terrible symmetry
absolutely false, at least in my neck of the woods. All those guys you posted as the ideal 2000s physique look scrawny today. Everyone these days is juiced to their eyeballs- both male and female. I remember thinking Vin Diesel was big back in the day-

but if I woke up like this today, I'd have a BDD anxiety attack. The standards have changed drastically in the last 20 years.

I feel like we did way more drugs and partied way harder back then. Nothing to do with the looks premise of this thread, just an observation.

People are in worse shape physically nowadays for sure. Thats across the board though, and its easy to see the cause of it being the very thing were using to post here. The world wide interwebs. Thanks Al Gore.

I actually think as a society more people work out now than ever and people in general are overall better looking and people will continue to get better looking as time goes on

thread title could easily have been, ''i'm glad young folk seem no longer vain and vapid like the douchebags of the mid 2000's''

during the days of the P&M polls, I had a young sherbro try and tell me women are at their hottest ever, no women from the past was as ever as hot as women today and the hottest in the past would be a today's 6 or 7, which is absolute horseshit.

Nah you’re just another old fart who thinks there is something wrong with the kids these days.

But hey it’s ok there are lots of us.
He is one of you kids. 2000's isn't going nearly far enough back if we want to reach a time when the youths and 20-somethings weren't a bunch of fatties. Even my generation can boast little pride.

But your generation, in particular, fucking sucks. Statistically speaking. An iceberg of hideous fatties hiding under an Instagram peak of filters & plastic.

Yes, your generation. I don't know you, and made no comment about you. You are an individual. You generation is a group.

A group of fatties.

There are fatter aka "thicker" people now.

I think it's due in part to the fact that acceptance of fat is at a high, and people have become lazier with the times.

Most of the people in my gym are 30+.....

Whereas when I was younger, there was a ton of late teens early to mid 20s in the gym.

Hell, I'm 38, and guys at my office 15 years younger look like shit compared to me. I'm not saying I'm ripped, just that this generation is full of lazy fucks .

I think it has a lot to do with the sugar, soy, and corn lobbies. Also the success and increased penetration of fast food culture. The physical size of plates in sit-down restaurants has inflated over time. Portion sizes have swollen everywhere:

True. The obesity epidemic existed before the advent of social media. Also, you have factor in the frequency of the meals. People are grazing and snacking more often these days, which elevates the insulin level and leads to obesity and metabolic syndrome.

I eat once a day and limit my carb intake to prevent this happening and to promote satiety and control my appetite.
