A leader of a parent advocacy group gave a fiery speech Thursday, slamming school board members for letting activism overshadow education in local schools.

Asra Nomani, vice president of Parents Defending Education and mother of a senior at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJ), took the floor at a Thursday meeting of the Fairfax School Board.

Nomani accused the school board of pushing indoctrination on students at the county’s public schools through the critical race theory and calling the “mostly minority students and parents” racists and “toxic” for voicing their objections. She also lamented the board’s vote to remove the “merit-based race-blind admissions test to TJ.”

I sent a note to every single one of you, and I got not a single response,” Nomani said, referring to her June 2020 message to the board members, in which she alerted them to a so-called “Occupy TJ” movement. “There was no concern about our students at that time

We pled with you, as Asians, as an immigrant. I came [to the U.S.] at the age of four,” Nomani continued. “You didn’t listen to us. And now I sit here listening to these empty proclamations… about your great value of Asian-Americans.”

“Our students were told that if they do salsa dancing, it amounts to cultural appropriation, and that they needed to check their racism. And that is our mostly minority, mostly Asian students,” Nomani said. “So, your empty proclamations are just that.”

Nomani proceeded to blast a board member for a comment about removing “the one policy that parents have to defend their students from indoctrination,” apparently referring to the schools board’s Controversial Issues Policy that requires presentation of both sides of an issue when teaching controversial topics.

If you have to remove a policy like that, how can you possibly be doing anything good?,” Nomani inquired.

The parent was interrupted by Ricardy Anderson, the board chair, who ordered her to go to her seat, saying, “your time has expired!”

Nomani later tweeted, reminding Anderson of a memo, circulated before the meeting, which stated that watching the clock was rooted in “white supremacy.”

Bless this lady foreal she's spot on .
school boards have become woke and thats no bueno discuss

Damn, I wish that parent could have commented about watching the clock and white supremacy to that chairperson... I truly wonder what her reaction would have been?

There is needs to be more people waking up like this.

So what exactly happened to prompt her speech?

It's your normal parent complaint to the school board. I'm saying that without adding a value judgment to her comments. At every one of these meetings, you're going to get parents who say something similar to what she's saying. And you're going to get parents who say the opposite.

On the broader array, the school she's talking about recently moved to adjust their admissions test and the state itself is revamping its math curriculum. That has made many parents unhappy.

Any first or second hand experience people in this thread can discuss regarding CRT in current school curriculum?

How has it impacted your school?

I’ll use literal correctly for the first time on this site. The Democrat Reich and their voters are literally Nazis.

It is. People keep incorrectly characterizing them as socialists or Marxists. But they aren't. Just like the Nazi, its fascism marketed as socialism. None of this about worker's rights or taking back power and production from the corporations like in a Marxist society. Instead, we are seeing the rights of people rapidly stripped away while corporate power proliferates unchecked and the distinction between corporation and government becomes non-existent.

Marxism or CRT being taught in schools. It's communist psychological warfare and parents are rightfully speaking out against it. "When they find out what social justice really means in practice".

Yuri was right, they're pumping Marxism and other destructive ideologies into the soft heads of American students.

Any examples of this, particularly in this school?

I’ve never seen a speech like the one presented here at a school meeting. Not that tone or those specific points of discussion. Are you hearing these types of speeches at your kids high school parent meetings?

It's true, bro. No one pushed extremist multiculturalism harder than Adolf and the gang.
Gotta love how these guys flip out when even a hint of a comparison is made to right wingers and Nazis, but they have no problems going all in if it's calling the left Nazis.

Everyone forgets that the "literally Hitler" meme was started as a response to the right referring to Barack Obama as "literally Hitler".

And thanks. You have now been added to my long list of ignored WR trolls.

watching the clock is white supremacy
ahahahahhhhhhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

imagine how much of a cretin you have to be to even say this

The CRT already mentioned in the OP. States are banning it for good reason.
There weren't any examples outside of "salsa is cultural appropriation" which sounds made up because how often are high schoolers salsa dancing and it never mentioned who said it or in what context.
