With the rematch coming up, i’ve been rewatching some stuff. Yoel claimed him slipping at the end cost him the fight. What do you think? I don’t think it was that close actually. Robert would’ve still won without the slip in my eyes.

cant watch while at work, but here's the vid for those who can-

From what I remembered, Romero clearly won the first 2 but tired and lost the 3rd and 4th deciding to take one of the rounds as a recovery round to get his stamina back, then in the 5th it was pretty close and he slipped only for Whittaker to mount him and win it.

Basically he shouldn't focus on trying to take Whittaker down in the rematch unless a clear opening arises as it will drain his stamina.

If i remember it correctly...Yoel lost the fight in the 2nd half...

And this time Bobby probably won't fight 4 rounds with just one leg...

Anyway...really excited to see this rematch!
And this really might be Yoel's absolutley last chance at a UFC Title....so Bobby better bring is absolutley A+ game this night...

Is it confirmed a slip? Rewatching it, might have been a trip.
Yoel seemed to be the better fighter but gassed. He was landing the strikes, getting the take downs, doing damage, doesn't matter if you only win first 2 rounds of you don't get the finish

If Yoel was in a position where a slip in the final round costed him the entire fight, then he was doing something wrong before the slip.

I recall Yoel calling it a slip in an interview, i do however agree it looks like a trip. However i feel like Robert was doing most damage while avoiding almost every takedown attempt, and if he got taken down he got up almost immediatly

4 4/5 rounds, first kick wrecked Bobby's knee.

couple factors for this fight

- I doubt Yoel is going to try any wrestling and is gonna try beat him on the feet, which also means who won't expend so much of his gas tank.
- Whittaker's knee won't be fucked this time around
-Those kicks to the body were an awesome weapon for Whittaker, I wonder how Yoel is going to deal with them this time around.

rooting for whittaker
can't stand romero. don't like the soldier of god moniker bullshit.
don't like his oblique kicks.

i'm sure he'll be better prepared in the rematch with a better game plan so it'll be dangerous a fight for both.
hopefully whittaker drills his leg check defense and can avoid a leg injury.

great utilization of the front kicks!

Yoel doesn't have the Gas tank to defeat Whittaker.

I do hope Yoel wins but i wouldn't bet on this.

2 round each going into the final round

He did slip / or made some form of error trying to recall

Romero got his calculations wrong, this time he wont make it this close

I hate those leaping side kicks to the knee yoel throws

Nah that's not why but honestly Romero should win this fairly handlily as long as he's smart and paces. He just wrecked rockhold who despite his hate in here is a much better fighter than Whittaker. He also was clearly better than Whitaker when he wasn't tired. Cardio is the key for this one

Huge Rockhold fan, but styles make fights and i think Whittaker is one of the only guys that can beat Romero at MW. Also i didn’t see Romero being clearly better at any moment in the fight.

(BTW i hope moving up to LHW fixes Rockhold’s chin and we can see him on a winning streak again)

He didn't fucking slip. There is one particular angle that clearly showed he got dropped by a jab from Whittaker. That's also why he seemed confused for a moment on the ground.

Anybody know what Yoel walks around at pre weight cut?

I would ask off season but I'm sure he trains year round.
