There are many more fighters who missed weight more often than Yoel Romero did but was allowed to stay at their weight classes.

Out of two times he missed weight, he came in at 180.2 pounds once, which would have been allowed for non title fights as well as title fights in other jurisdictions like Nevada, and GSP is a famous example AS A CHAMPION who was allowed to fight when he missed the cut off by a higher amount. One other time he missed weight, he had to come in on short notice as well, and it does play into a factor as well, you'd imagine.

Yoel is around 5'10 and he is around 200 pounds when he is walking around and it's not necessarily a big cut, if at all.

People mistakenly equate being a big man and being unable to cut weight well. Not everyone is able to cut weight equally. It would be just as illogical as people are just as good at fighting and they are not.

Yoel Romero has been cutting weight to his weight class for 20 + years without any issues, and to suggest that he is too big to fight in such weight class would be a hypocrisy.

Yoel Romero isn't necessarily a guy who is giant for his weight classes. He might not be the smallest middle weight, but he isn't necessarily the biggest either. Thing is that, as he ages, as much as he looks like a guy in his 20's, his body to shed that extra weight may have suffered through competing at a highest level for 20+ years, I am not certain but that's certainly a possibility.

He does look thick and muscular, but it's his build, and he looks even thicker just because he's a short guy for his weight class.

At the end of the day, Yoel Romero is not a big middleweight, and he does NOT cut a lot more weight that what a lot of middleweights out there are doing. He does look like a creation from some witch magic, but stop the witch hunt, put your torches and forks down, and let things play out as they should.

He's missed weight twice (regardless of the excuses), he should automatically be forced up a weight class for at least one fight

3 strikes and he's out imo. One more miss. . . As far as the short notice fight goes, don't take it if you can't make the weight

Also, one other time he missed weight, he had to come in on short notice so he wasn't given usual resources and time to cut weight and get ready for the fight as well.

Yoel Romero has been cutting weigh to his weight class for 20 + years without any issue, but thing is also, the ability for his own body to shed weight does change over time, not necessarily he gets bigger or smaller.

No excuses bro.

Can you please name the many more fighters who missed weight more than Yoel and were allowed to stay in the division ?

He should and he will. People frustrated with his success want him to move up a weight class. Romero knocks out some Branch or Brunson guy later this year just like he did it to Weidman and Rockhold and fights Whittaker for the gold in 2019 whether haters like it or not.

You just can't have any trust in him, its like booking Tony vs Khabib. A big card rided on him at 221 and he let everyone down & then again at 225 and he lets the UFC down again. You can't blame them not trusting the guy.

Thing is that, as he ages, as much as he looks like a guy in his 20's, his body to shed that extra weight may have suffered through competing at a highest level for 20+ years, I am not certain but that's certainly a possibility.

You are contradicting yourself here. Unless he starts cutting age as well, he's only going to be getting older. So if he is failing to make weight now, he's only going to struggle that much more in the future. At some point, he has to be like DC and accept the fact he can't cut the weight any longer.

I agree that he should be allowed to stay at 185 if he really wants. He missed weight once, the second time would have counted as making weight in any fight that wasn't a title fight. And he won't be given another title fight for awhile at 185.

With that said, it becomes harder and harder to cut weight as you get older, and the man is 41 years old. Not to mention that he'd need at least 2 more impressive W's in a row to get another title shot at 185 after losing to Whittaker twice. If I were in his situation, I'd want to move up to 205. He'll be a bit undersized there but he'll be a lot healthier and has a quicker road to a 205 lb title.

sure stay at mw he can make 186 super easy.

he seem to not be able to make 185. missing back to back title fights couldn't me more unprofessional. many fighters don't get 2 title shots to start with and he blow 2 of them away cause he was to fat fight week.

They should all be flogged and forced to move up a weight class.

He still missed weight twice in a row, regardless of excuses, and his team publicly saying they did it on purpose the second time around will not sit kindly with the higher ups. They def should ahve kept their mouth shut on that aspect.
