Yoel Romero is too small for LHW

I dont know if hes too small. I get that hes short, but shit...dude already smashed weidman and rockhold who are pretty much lightheavy weights. Plus considering how shallow that division is.....Romero stands a very decent chance at contending for the strap.

Yoel is a great fighter but he's not a GOAT-level talent. He's just a really, really super fucking amazingly good talent. But not GOAT level.

Also DC has 5 round cardio. Romero has 2 round cardio. Round 3+, Romero is going to be a midget sitting duck at the end of a 6'5" guys reach in a way that DC, who can always stay moving, never is.

I would argue that Yoel's cardio is *undeniably* affected by his brutal cut to 185...and that it is reasonable to assume that he would be noticeably more fit if he fought at 205. Maybe he does have 5 round cardio at LHW? Without cutting all that weight, maybe Yoel could also display the "GOAT-level talent" that you ascribe to DC?

you may have a point there...something for Yoel to consider...but he is certainly doing himself no favours by murdering his body to make 185 and might extend his career with a move up.

personally, I would love to see what a non-depleted Yoel looks like at 205.

It's not really about height, DC is the same height as Yoel.

But yeah, he would definitely weigh less than Gus. I think Yoel starts his cut to MW at around 210, while Gus is probably a solid 15-20 pounds heavier.

Wouldn't even be close to the biggest size differences we've seen in the UFC. See the majority of Frankie Edgar's career for example.

Yoel would do just fine at LHW.

Gus is tall but he's lanky and Jones looks pretty big on top but he's got skinny legs and Latifi is sorta like DC too, maybe a little more buff so what I'm saying is you get all kinds of body types at lhw

OSP, now he's a big lhw. Glover looks like a regular guy, so yeah, Romero would do fine there.

Dana suggested him moving up to LHW. Where is a reason why he choose be middleweight - he's only 180 cm tall, so fighting Gustafsson (195 cm tall) would be challenge.

He haven't fought as LHW since 2011, so if he moves up and gets to fight top guys - I doubt that he will be as dangerous.

This is really bullshit. Also Rashad Evans wasn't tall and he won the belt also.
Gustafsson might be long, but not everybody in the LHW is that long.
A shorter fighter has to adapt his game plan against a taller fighter, that is in all the weight classes the same. A shorter fighter can duck under the punches and go for the take down, especially for a good wrestler like Romero.
