International Yemassee, South Carolina locked down after 43 monkeys escape from Bioresearch Lab

Cmon. We have weight classes for a reason! Bring it monkey boy!!

I for one welcome our new monkey overlords
I thought the same thing before even reading this post lol

That's a fairly large number. I hope they can safely round them up before anyone gets hurt.

Edit: I'd be surprised if they weren't neutered to start with so it will be interesting to see what happens.

Kind of would like them to escape and breed.

I know that's not ecologically a good idea but it's would be a whole lot better then the evasive species we already have.

And kind of neat to have wild monkeys in the US.
There are macaques in Florida

43 monkeys escape South Carolina research facility; police warn residents to secure doors and windows

Authorities in South Carolina on Thursday warned residents to lock their doors and windows after more than 40 monkeys escaped from a research facility. As of Friday morning, the fugitive monkeys still had not been captured, the CEO of the research facility told CBS News.
The 43 primates broke loose from an Alpha Genesis facility in Beaufort County, prompting officials to set up traps and use thermal imaging cameras in an effort to locate and capture the monkeys, the Yemassee Police Department said. In an update posted to social media late Thursday, police said the primates had been spotted in a wooded region near the facility and urged residents to steer clear of the animals."

Cute!

That's a horrible ecological idea.
If the local authorities can't hunt them down with tranquilizers, chances are they'll put out a public notice for anyone to shoot them on sight.

And we're in the fall season with the winter cold quickly approaching. They won't survive in the wilderness of South Carolina.

Awwww Fuuuuuuck!!!!
It's happening!

Iv seen 28 days later...
Goat zombie movie of all time… although they technically weren’t zombies. But yeah, that one gave me nightmares for years to come, I could never get into lame stuff like the walking dead after that one. Your standard slow moving zombies are just comical, but when those motherfuckers can sprint, it’s a whole different ball game, that shit was terrifying, and also much more plausible.

I’m guessing the dead aren’t gonna start getting up from their graves anytime soon, but some type of virus that makes you go apeshit and kill people is definitely not out of the realm of possibility.

Not kidding when I say why do need to keep doing animal research run by companies more worried about the bottom line then making sure the safety of these animals and not hiring 8 dollar an hour college students to maintain these faculties. How does 40 plus monkeys get lose and where where are they from as like another research center possibly? There is a video that still for whatever reason cannot find in Wuhan where a monkey came loose from its cage and was recorded by security cameras. These monkeys are not just run of the mill monkeys oh no they have been modified for specific types of testing including mice. These animals cost significant amounts of cash as the are raised specifically for testing.

It really does not get that cold in South Carolina they can find ways to gather together to stay warm under ground possibly? They could migrate down south to warmer areas they are pretty adaptable. Go through dumpsters and various areas to find food, They will likely die but its not like they are completely without options.

What is the weather like in South Carolina?

South Carolina has a humid subtropical climate, with hot summers throughout most of the state. Mild winters predominate in the eastern and southern part of the state but cool to occasionally cold winters are the standard in the northwestern areas of the state, especially areas at or above 600 feet in elevation. On average, between 40 and 80 inches of precipitation falls annually across the state.

Does South Carolina have four seasons?

South Carolina is a four-season state, with each season being longer or shorter depending on the region.

Winter: December – February or March

For example, in the northwestern mountain area (the Upstate), winter is cold and snowy, lasting from December through March, with temperatures ranging from 26 at higher elevations to 40 degrees in the plains. In contrast, winter in the Low Country along the Atlantic Coast has significantly milder temperatures with little to no snowfall. Temperatures range from 40 to 60 degrees.

Spring: March-May

Springtime arrives all over South Carolina just a little later (mid to late March) in the mountains and earlier on the coast. Wherever you live or visit in South Carolina, spring is a beautiful time of year with gorgeous weather and perfect temperatures.

Summer: June – September

Summer in South Carolina is hot, and people like it that way. Every region has its extremes, but overall, whether you live Upstate, in the Midlands, or the Low Country, you’ll be warm. Wear a hat, pack some flip-flops, and enjoy a dip in one of the state’s cooling lakes. Oh, and eat ice cream.

Fall: September – November

From the mountains to the ocean shores, fall in South Carolina is a season of cooler temperatures, brilliant foliage, and bountiful harvests. Warm clothes are still optional most days, with people getting by on cool nights with a cozy sweater. "

I said it wasn't a practical idea but the idea of wild monkeys in the US in a small area is kind of wild.
