News Yan vs O'Malley UFC 280, October 22

the judges had him losing that fight, then he poked his opponent in the eye and now he's fighting the number 2 in the division. it's stupid, no matter who you slice it.
Yea, the judges scored the first round wrong and Sean was piecing Pedro up in the 2nd. Says a lot that a guy like Pedro who has been in wars with killers was forced to stay on the outside throwing some weak kicks.

I don’t care how you cut it. We get Yan and that’s what I want to see now. Munoz fight is water under the bridge.
Water under the bridge because the professional matchmakers knew Sean was winning the fight, rather easily.

Honestly if this stays standing...don't be shocked if Omalley wins, Yan has looked very tentative...or gun shy rather in his last few fights. I still think he gets his ass handed to him...but there is a massive reach advantage here, as long as Omalley makes it to the cage he has a chance.

Won’t believe this until the UFC announces it. O’Malley saying it on his own means nothing yet — might just be trying to pressure Yan into taking the fight. Which he probably won’t, considering Yan is ranked #1 and O’Malley is #13.

Big O’Malley fan here, but I don’t like his chances. Besides, I thought it was not too long ago that he was saying he was content to fight lower-level guys?
You say you are a big O’Malley fan but just a couple weeks ago you say you are not… which is it?

I was at the press conference on Thursday, and the crowd went crazy for him, even to the point that they were booing Munhoz out of the building. I’m not necessarily saying I am among them, but apparently there’s a pretty big group of O’Malley fans in Vegas right now.

I am surprised people are salivating at this event, with the addition of this fight.
Yan Vs Poodle is interesting only if you hate O'Malley and want to see him humbled.
Chinless Khabib Vs Oli is very interesting fight.
Cheating Snake Vs Actor Aljo is kinda meh.
Then don’t watch. Simple haha

no they called it correctly. i'm saying it's stupid to be losing a match, invalidate the match with an eyepoke, and then move up the ranks.

I never said I wasn’t a fan; I was deliberately vague a couple of weeks ago, and said I wasn’t necessarily among those going crazy for him at the press conference. Meant it to be a neutral and objective response to a different thread. But if it’s important, I will officially say I’m a fan.

I’d love to see him beat Yan if they fight, but don’t think Sean has the ground game to pull it off.

Can someone get the mods to add a poll so we can pick the winner and finish/decision?

Surprising to me to see him step this far up in competition. Intriguing fight for sure, but I think Yan will take it.

Yan, by TKO but since it's only 3 rounds and Yan tends to start slow, it could be a decision win. But I do think after the Aljo loss, he's going to start picking up the pace in round 1 and not be a slow started anymore since that cost him his belt.

I also do expect O'Malley to do something funky to try and discredit the win, or to get a disqualification/no-contest. He has a pattern with his losses and fights he was going to lose. So Yan will have to finish him before he gets a chance to do that. Once O'Malley knows he isn't going to win he looks for a way out.

This. If he's getting his ass kicked I fully expect some shenanigans that end the fight so that he can keep telling his fanboys he's undefeated.

Not that massive. 5 inches. O'Malley has 2 more inches than Sandhagen and Yan closed the distance just fine against him. Sean is in way over his head in this one.

Three days after my Birthday, this card is a nice present. Glad to be able to share my present with yall!

Edit- I meant the event is three days after. :D

If fight stays standing i see O'malley scoring walk of KO. If Yan mixes it up i give him slight chance

what a card.. do bronx vs islam, TJ vs Aljo, sugar vs petr.. damn, and more fights to come.. belal vs brady.. yuck.. 3 awesome fights.. all which could headline.. i have a feeling they will add 2 more bangers..

he is definitely delusional, to say after the fight he was dominating Pedro, when he found out he lost the 1st round called the judges stupid.. he did lose the 1st, but he is a very talented fighter and great for the sport... i am surprised to see this huge jump in competition for him, i was thinking he would fight someone 6-10. But props for everyone making this fight. Its not a must win for Omalley, but a loss for yan would be devastating.. Is omalleys boxing good enough to keep petr at the end of his puches and not allow him to get inside. Omalley is huge for the division.. anytime yan does get in, he has to go to the clinch, yan boxing inside the pocket will light Omalley up... cant wait to see this fight, i just wish it was a 5 rounder.

3 rounds 55-45 omalley
5 rounds 65-35 Yan

Sandhagen's issue was he was putting nothing into his punches so Yan had no issue walking through them. Sean is going to have to really sit down on some of his punches to stop Yan in his track.

It's because he wasn't losing, he was the only one landing anything significant and obviously the UFC agrees.
