Yan must win. The Merab Meta Is Killing Bantamweight

I can't say I'm ever like oh boy, Petr Yan is fighting. I can appreciate his skill and think he's a very good fighter. Just never been a fan.

I’ve been obsessively watching MMA for over 20 years and to me he’s one of the most skilled and consistently entertaining fighters of the modern era.

Just my tastes though.

He's pretty skilled, 100 percent

Yan just saved BW

Was an amazing vintage performance from him

Back to the prelims for Merab

Yan vs Sugar show let’s go! That’s a rematch that NEEDS to happen

The Merab hate is so forced. Imagine being pissed a champion wants to and will actually be defending his belt 4 times in one year?

Would you prefer they be like Khamzat, who gives you one boring fight once a year?
Yes. Because I don't really like watching his fights either.

And again one of the judges saw it as 48-47. Judges hate Yan for some reason.

The forcefield hasn't been utilized since the 90s because back then, failing 16 takedowns usually meant you lost the round or got exhausted. Merab is unique because he can fail repeatedly with zero cardio consequence. That is the glitch I’m talking about.

Saying it takes two to tango is a cop-out. It’s impossible to tango when one guy is solely focused on pinning your hips to the fence to score control time. That’s not fighting, that’s inhibiting the fight. If Yan wins, we get actual combat back.
Like we went back and forth about 2 weeks ago, Merab will be figured out. He is a human and he can be hurt, submitted, even taken down.

Yan is a few years younger, very skilled and very tough. He'd been in there with Merab before and he came in well prepared with a good gameplan.

We all know that the dominant styles of MMA changes over the years. Hell the dominant styles in most sports change by the decade.

Yan always had the stand up to hurt Merab but he combined the TDD and even offense wrestling to do so.

If it wasn't going to be him maybe it would be Talbot, or Umar or maybe even a venomous grappler like Pantoja coming up to BW.

Don't like the way a champ fights? Well, wait a few fights and he'll get figured out save for a few all time greats like Anderson, Jones, Khabib or GSP.
