The irony in thr OP is hilarious. I do feel sorry for the guy though, 11,000 posts in under a year. He practically lives for Sherdog and this thread ruined him.

I always tell people on this thread, I got my prediction wrong and that much is on me, but people completely miss the point of the thread.

The point was around the majority of Conor supporters being idiots. The guys who make "predictions" without even knowing Conor's opponent. Half the people commenting on this thread to this day - still have no idea how good Eddie actually is, they have no idea about his skill-set, his resume etc. but because of blind Conor obsession they just spout his lines such as "he'll be done in one".

You cannot be predicting fights when you don't know one of the fighters - you look like a n00b.

Sounds like it is actually YOU who is missing the point. You claim the majority of Conor fans are newbie morons, yet how many times has Conor beaten the guy all the "experts" on Sherdog predicted would "end the hype train"??

Maybe your theory that the majority of Conor fans are newbies is completely false. Maybe they are actually much more perceptive than you, and could spot true talent and skills when they saw it. Its was not taking anything away from Eddie by saying Conor would smoke him. It was simply a recognition that Conor is THAT good!

Never once have I claimed that they are "all newbies" - but to deny that the vast majority of them are newbies, is just idiotic.

Conor McGregor sells out arenas where ticket prices swell to double the price, he sells millions of PPVs, the guy clearly has attracted an audience that was not here previously. Conor has only been in the limelight for approximately 3 years, so yeah, if you've only been watching the sport for 3 years, then yeah, you're a fucking newbie.

You can bang on with whatever idea or angle you want - but the fact is anyone in their right mind would not pick a one-dimensional striker over one of the best MMA fighters to ever live (Jose Aldo) and nobody in their right mind would pick Conor McGregor over someone like Dustin Poirier at the time either, the resumes were absolutely night and day - one was fighting world class fighters and the other was beating people like Marcus Brimage.

You have to understand that Conor's ascension is a shock, none of this was truly expected. The guy is a one dimensional, counter-striker, who already has had some knee reconstruction. You have to understand that predicting that fighter A will beat fighter B, when you've never even seen fighter B is just ludicrous.

- Heart for days. Let you knock him down or rock him, if his body lets him he'll keep coming.

People keep saying that Conor will defeat him with ease on the feet...

You do know Eddie's chin is probably just as good as Nate Diaz, you know Nate, the guy that Conor couldn't put away in almost 35 minutes of fighting?

Conor has a chance, he always does when it's standing, but stop talking about Eddie Alvarez like you even know who he is or have followed his career at all.

Perceptive fans were able to look past the fighter records and evaluate each fighter based on skills displayed in the cage. That is why many of us, like myself, DID predict Conor would beat Poirer and Alvarez AND were proven correct! You assume everybody that makes predictions that go contrary to the fighters' records is simply ignorant of them. IT IS YOU that is ignorant by using only a fighter's record to predict the outcome of a fight. And THAT is why this thread continues on and on and on.....because after 33 fucking pages YOU STILL DON'T GET IT!!!

I did think McGregor would win that one, but mostly because it felt like it was Aldo's turn to lose. He had a loooong run with the belt, and McGregor was as hungry and confident as you can get. It just felt like it was time.
 
And I'm not trying to sound like I'm great at predicting fights. I thought McGregor would beat Diaz the first time, and I've been wrong on many predictions. The point I am trying to make is that you shouldn't assume anybody who predicts a fighter with a less decorated record will beat a fighter with a more decorated record is either a newbie or a dumbass.
