Multiplatform XDefiant

Crazy fun match today.

6x6 escort mission. Carrier was this mech hound. Big bastard. Definite SHD tech vibes.

Map was some sort Egyptian exhibit, museum. Everyone was GG after and we won 64.8% to 64.4% in payload delivery.

Fun to size up Faction skills and see what outsmarts, outmuscles another. Cleaners seem popular ATM in what I’ve played. Their abilities are flamethrower, napalm drone (thing is nasty), Molotov, and incendiary ammo. Tough to beat.

Last match I played. I had more objective time than every other player combined. But...why? You're not rewarded for it in any way, which is especially sad when every single match is some kind of objective game type. It's usually not this extreme (and sometimes I actually get kills), but basically every match I play is like this.

Yeah, that’s some bull. If you’re playing objective, you’re doing it right. Some guys treat everything like TDM, which is such an eye roll when you’re leaving everything behind in a pool of blood at hardpoint. Point distribution should see rebalancing; let’s see what’s in the first post-launch patch.

Literally one other guy on opposing team (y4 cat) who also held it down for everyone. You two were the match VIPs. @The Clark

On that, I love the team showcase for operator performance, best in class after every match.

Update pushed.

Fixes include hitmarkers and netcode, skill deployment, stabilisation, amongst other things.

Something called Practice Zone has also returned but am not familiar with that.

Seems like in every shooter developers struggle to balance two WPN classes in particular. One is SMGs, and two is shotguns. And the case is either OP or wet toilet paper.

SMGs in this do not feel good to me. Snipers, on the other hand, have been the most fun followed by ARs. Pistols feel good too. Have not once been killed by a shotgun nor used one myself so not sure the state they’re in right now. Anyone even running these?

You can make penetrative shots in this with snipers but there’s no destructability so it’s missing oomph. Car windows can be clutch, for example, but would love glass shatter. Not sure if players know this when there aren’t material FX to show you bullet trajectory.

I haven't played enough to unlock it, but the AA-12 during testing felt great.

Following your experience, I played the M870 last night. OHKO on headshots felt great. Haven't played the AA-12 yet and might be locked for me still. I thought the range on the M870 was too much but then saw how they'd counterbalanced it – Ice Age-speed ROF. Fun WPN though. I'm assuming the AA-12 is fully automatic like its real-life counterpart? Probably a beast.

Why can we not go prone? Seems weird a design choice.

I also wish slide recovery were faster; the delay makes molasses of any momentum built up.

The devs said there would not be any prone because they favored movement over hiding.
Took me a minute to get used to it coming from COD.
Three days later and it doesn't bother me.
It's just a different game.

Theyre typically overpowered for the tickrate is bad which causes disappearing hitreg and mode used with map designs primarily promote CQC.

Played against DedSec faction for the first time today. Crazy good skills including a parasitic facehugger type attack from Alien that obfuscates FOV but think mechanical. I see why they’re the hardest faction to unlock without a default operator to choose from.

Game has so many loading and connection screens, hanging often too. Clean that crap up, Ubi.

Leveling the M44 sniper for now but slow-going. It plays most like the Kar98k from my Duty days. The attachments so far for WPNs I’ve seen have all been good with potential for builds.

Xdefiant is freebase crack compared to CODs white collar cocaine, and I'm totally OK with that.

What's your favorite map right now? @Your Salad, @The Clark

I have two – but neither disappointingly rotate in all that often; rather, am usually getting Arena or that one carnival map with the haunted mansion.

I love Meltdown (steelworks) with the underfloor passages that drop or pop you up in weird places + general map flow. Very nice Escort map.

Don't know the name off-hand but I also like the map that takes place around and in a downed aircraft. There are some outside longshot lanes I like particularly on this one and find it generally a map for creative sightlines.

Yeah, Meltdown is my favorite linear map as well.
As far as arena maps I like Showtime, Nudleplex, and Pueblito.
I haven't started to hate any of the maps yet, so that's cool.
I must say that gun leveling is agonizingly slow without boosters. 1500 kills to max out attachments for one gun is just too many.
I wish weapon XP would also be tied to playing the objective. All modes are objective based now but the only way to level up guns is kills.
