Bradshaw JBL claimed he'd beat any wrestler in a Real Fight, then Eric Bischoff put up IIRC 50K and put up a bunch of guys to fight, winner take all. Major injuries took place, even careers were ended.

From what I remember Bart Gunn wasn't supposed to beat everyone, they didn't want or expect that.

I know Mr T apparently did something similar that was aired on television where it was "the world's strongest bouncer" competition and in the final rounds they boxed similar to this, I've never found footage of the boxing though. @Pancake Sprawl why I feel like you might know something about this?

Of course this got moved to the pro wrestling forum. Even though it is not pro wrestling, which was the whole point. Good job mod.

How do you confuse Bischoff with Vince Russo?

Been years ago, said IIRC, just remembered it wrong.

you're correct, the brawl for all was supposed to get Dr. Death Steve Williams over because of his tough guy persona, i don't know why they thought it was smart to book it as shoot fights though.

wasn't a big Samoan dude the other finalist in the world's strongest bouncer competition? i remember my Uncle telling me about it and that there were challenges that seemed like it was purposely made to benefit Mr. T.

well he won this competition twice "Americas toughest bouncer" and it aired on NBC apparently, but I literally haven't ever found footage of it to watch. I do vaguely remember hearing it was a Samoan dude he boxed in the finals of one now that you mention it. Just seems like something there'd be videos or clips of.

I always felt like Butterbean was Bart's punishment for screwing up their plans with Dr. Death, probably Jim Ross' idea.

Bart was prepping to "box" and IMHO trying to win a point fight with Bean, trading punches, instead of just going in there to..."smesh".

Throwing all-out violent blows while Not letting Bean connect should have been Bart's strategy. He realized AFTER the bout he should have tried to pummel Bean, and not let Bean pummeled him. Hindsight is 20/20.

Bart Gunn got punished for winning.

Billy Gunn in a shoot interview said he told the WWF management Bart would win because he seen him in bar fights.

i agree. there is no wrestler who would've beaten Butterbean in boxing. what was idiotic to me about it was they were punishing Bart by severely weakening their own product. Butterbean just made the toughest wrestler in WWE look like a bum getting 1 shotted.

Russo exposed alot of guys toughness and put guys on the sidelines with injuries just because Bradshaw was too bombastic one day.

Absolute fucking genius.

And Bradshaw still had an impressive showing and a career that saw him as one half of a celebrated tag team before reinventing himself as a top heel and world champion.

Sure showed him.

Dan Severn was super awkward in the tournament. He kept trying to pin the Godfather like amateur wrestling even though you're supposed to get up after the takedown.

Especially sad because Butterbean said that Bart Gunn would have had a chance if he just brawled like he did in the tournament, but instead he tried to be a technical boxer for no good reason.

Them heavies mods do it upon seeing mention of pro wrestling.

2 weeks before WME/WWE announcement I posted one about the rumor, had zero mentions in there at the time. It got a couple "you're crazy it'll never happen" then quickly bumped here even though I was focusing on the MMA impact.

Two weeks later that was the prevailing heavies topic of conversation lol.
