WWE CruiserWeight Classic

If Ciampa vs. Gargano is what's wrong with wrestling, then I don't want wrestling to be right.

Dammit, I went to check something on profightdb for one of the CWC participants and spoiled probably my most anticipated match on round 2 of CWC. FML.

So the super kick and knee to the face works for HBK Ziggler and Nakamura, yet this guys can take multiple knees and kicks to the face and win via roll up?

Tommaso Ciampa vs. Johnny Gargano everything wrong with modern wrestling. We all know what wrestling is and isnt. That being said, can we get some semblance of realism here? Gargano is getting his ever loving ass whooped for the majority of the match, and somehow wins via surprise roll up? Garbage!

I'll admit I didn't understand booking it that way. It would have made more sense if they were planning a program between the two of them...but since it doesn't seem like they are I'm not sure why you make Gargano look weak when he's the guy moving on?

Exactly. And like I said, HBK and Ziggler can finish a dude with a super kick. Nakamura can finish a dude with a knee. Yet this guy Gargano can take multiple kicks and knees to the dome and win via roll up?

I'm holding out hope The Revival beats these guys through Gargano, Ciampa loses his shiz over it, and this gets fed into the back story of the feud.

Love the revival.

I am just sour on so many damn false finishes and people kicking out of multiple finishers. Unless its like a major match at PPV, it gets a bit much.

That's like saying the Sun is hot...if you say anything else you're stupid.

;)

Whats your opinion on my thoughts on false finishes?

I'm torn. On the one hand, I don't want to see them on every show. It sets the bar too high and there's no way to make special matches seem special...it's like Shane vs Taker...you're forced to deliver the ridiculous and everything else is an afterthought. On the other had...they're trying to make this tournament seem important...and having the guys go to that "big show," level...where it takes something extra to win helps with the idea this is a big deal and guys will damn near kill themselves to win. But then you go back to the problem of this being the first round. In theory, the second, third, and fourth rounds all need to top this...at what point does that enter the realm of the ridiculous? At what point does it condition the audience that every match is supposed to be like that? I think they would have been better served saving matches like that for later rounds, when supposedly the more elite level guys are facing each other.

My thoughts exactly.

The guys talked about the CWC being like the new Super J Cup. Most of these guys won't ever be on tv again - any tv at all, much less WWE (okay, "tv", but the Network gets more eyes than most of these guys ever will again, period).

They would be fucking stupid to not go out there and treat each match like the main event of Wrestlemania. It might be their only chance to.

Now - false finishes in general, that's a whole discussion in and of itself

I just dont get the logic and the disbelief they expect us to suspend when someone uses a super kick/flying knee for a finisher and another lads multiples of those moves, only to lose via roll up.

Same thing as Kongo eating half a dozen knockout punches before knocking Barry out with a single punch, I guess

That's the problem I have...I can totally see your point of view...but at the same time I don't want to get to the point where every match is special and none of them end up being special you know. There's got to be a happy medium there somewhere.

It was the last match of the first round, pretty sure someone who is heading up this thing told them to go all out to draw more people for the next round.

hnnnggggg Ibushi v Alexander tonight. Only two matches the whole hour ... this thing is gonna get like 20-25 minutes.

The second match will be the longest in the spoilers it says the first match was about 10 mins
