I said it a couple of times and I will repeat it.. shit hit the fan in China and it's seems pretty bad there but there will be no major issues outside of Asia.
I don't see why all the paranoia in the west. Specially overseas.
I have seen this map being taken as a reference:

Of course China numbers are BS and should not be taken in consideration.
But if you trust others then you see that for example:
- US out of 12 cases there are NO deaths and 3 fully recovered.
- Bangkok had 32 confirmed cases and out of those 10 are already recovered. No deaths reported.
- Sydney: 4 cases, 2 recovered. No deaths.
I think people worrying about their own health in the west should not be worried.
What kind of ass-backward logic is this? Did you even bother to read the thread?
The fact that we are able to successfully contain this epidemic so far IS because we are concerned enough to have proper preparation in place!
Up until last month, the policy for returning Americans from Wuhan was a mere
voluntary 72-hour observational period. That's precisely the "nothing to worry about" attitude that you go by.
Fortunately, our country quickly became
paranoid and
worried about our own health enough when we realized China is lying through their teeth, and kick our preparation up to a
mandatory 14-day quarantine in military bases, right before some of those returning expats started showing symptoms.
Now imagine those infected expats wandering all over the country spreading their virus to everyone they come in contact with instead, and those numbers suddenly wouldn't look so rosy, ain't it?
Can you even imagine the panic and hysteria right now if we didn't decide to be "paranoid" two weeks ago?
The moment people adopt that attitude you are advocating instead of being vigilant against the worst case scenario in a declared global health emergency is the moment their country is fucked when the next disease comes along at their door, especially if someone brings it into a poor area with sub-standard medical care.
The fact that we still have tens of thousands of pointless deaths every common flu season IS because of that stupid attitude, as the sick people freely spreading it at will and the currently-healthy ones freely receiving it. So many lives would have been saved annually had everyone followed basic standard precautions to keep themselves and their family healthy and safe, instead of thinking "oh, it's nothing to be worried about".
As with all emergencies, there wouldn't be any panic, hysteria, and further man-made disasters if people are just wise enough to be concerned. Wuhan and their neighbors are what they are right now BECAUSE their leaders share the same mindset as you do when the alarm was sounded by their doctors two months ago, and just like what you are advocating, the Chinese didn't worry and did absolutely nothing until it's too late.
A stupid idea doesn't get any smarter just because it's being repeated. It simply means you are repeating a stupid idea.
