Aight sherbros, did some extensive, large sample size, first hand, anecdotal field research for mask-wearing in a major, west coast US international airport for us all to add to the arguments haha!
Just spent an hour and a half walking end to end, tip to tip, of terminals A, B, C, and D at SeaTac. Honestly, I've started doing this on layovers anyway to stave of teh DVTs on plane rides, so despite there are two people-movers in the A terminal near the weird black-and-white-balloon-prophylaxic-statue art (pic below, lol) I stuck to the concrete firma.
I counted the number of people wearing masks this time.
Results: FIVE PEOPLE IN TOTAL
Four asian, one Indian man.
All surgical masks, no N95 type.
Hoping none are actually sick, but pretty normal amount of mask donning as usual from what I've seen of a ton of work travel over the last decade plus. Of note; one guy had a sick black colored one, which hey, kinda cool looking haha!

Sorry, heavy crop cause too large.
Also, @Alexander de great thought you'd like the "tip to tip" navigation description, *snicker*
Glad yer back
Gotta fly, be back later
Whoa, shocking difference from Seattle tonight. Nice to hear!I work LAX and last week I was at the main International terminal and I was taken aback by the amount of people wearing face mask. It wasn't just passengers but baggage handlers, airline personal, people in shops. I never seen it like this.
45 cases where i live.
A ship full of “possible” infected at my shores.
im dooomed.
if i die i tell you how i feel.
Good site. Provides sources but it is a little off.
For example, they show:
Finland: 1 case - 1 serious.
But the woman was already released from the hospital so she should be listed as recovered.
@Cole train be careful bro.
Edit.. BTW, it seems the virus is pretty controlled outside China (let`s wait to India and Africa tho). I don't think this is going to be bad in America (north and south) and even in western Europe.
Maybe it got coronavirusSite seems to be down.
This is a friend of mine (American) video who lives in one of the city's that is locked down.
A video showing what a city in China looks like during the outbreak of the Novel Corona Virus. To be clear, this is not Wuhan, China (the epicenter of the outbreak). My family and I live in Wuhu, which lies somewhere between Wuhan and Shanghai. As of the posting of this video, there are approximately 20 confirmed cases of the virus in our city. As with most cities in China, Wuhu is under lockdown, meaning restaurants, shopping centers, cinemas, and public places are closed and residents are asked to stay indoors as much as possible. Tomorrow we will be required to use a pass to exit our building. Only one person from the family will be allowed to leave at a time. We can leave once a day for a maximum of two hours. This video gives insight into what the city looks like with most of the city closed and its residents off the streets.
LOLClippy is safe from the Corona virus:
I know lol. I legit thought she knew. Then she asked for the info so I shared what I've been seeing. I guess she can use messenger with a VPN but everything else is fucky? I got most of the videos off Twitter.
It's bad though from what she said. Her friend and his wife went back to their village and everyone came out and told them to leave. That they aren't welcome there.
Seems like the US government knew about how bad this would be weeks ago, diplomats and government workers on vacation in China were picked up and according to her told to "leave everything and gtfo of China"
All they have for entertainment is board games and work. I'd have lost my mind by now.
According to her the Chinese government has no fucking clue what they're doing and they're scrambling as fast as they can, and don't trust the numbers coming out of China.
She sent me this from an expat group.
In all seriousness, that joke came to me as a legit question.
I was watching a news segment saying that many passengers with legit health conditions requiring medicine are seeing their medications, they brought on the cruise running out and are panicking, and now there is an effort to get needed medicines to the cruise ships.
I then wondered what they would do, if a few of them panicked, and jumped ship to swim to nearby shore and that started a panic with masses of people jumping and swimming to nearby shore.
Imagine this being broadcast live on CNN...
As masses of the potentially infected now swim for shore what will local authorities do?
PM Lee said he expects to see more cases with no known contact with any other case in the coming days, despite efforts to do contact tracing and quarantine close contacts of confirmed cases. "If the numbers keep growing, at some point we will have to reconsider our strategy. If the virus is widespread, it is futile to try to trace every contact. If we still hospitalise and isolate every suspect case, our hospitals will be overwhelmed," he said. At that point - provided the death rate remains low - Singapore should shift its approach. Those who have only mild symptoms should see a General Practitioner (GP) and rest at home, instead of going to the hospital. Hospitals can then focus on the most vulnerable groups - children, the elderly, and those with medical complications.
lol.
The only reasonable thing to do.
I don't appreciate the guys making light of this very serious situation in this thread.
