In 2016, a frustrated Musk said he planned to start digging tunnels to provide an alternative to Los Angeles' congested highways. Why sit in traffic above ground when you could speed ahead below it?

Now the joke has turned into something very real. The billionaire entrepreneur has started to deliver on his talk of offering a "weird little Disney ride in the middle of LA."

Our Model X inched forward. It was fitted out with special protruding wheels that held the SUV in place between the tunnel's walls. Previous iterations of the tunnel had placed the SUV on an electric skate, which propelled it. Now the vehicles in Musk's tunnels power themselves. The Boring Company said it switched because this was a simpler solution.

Jesus. I have a great idea. Howz about we make the tunnel a little bigger, then we can put bigger vehicles in that carry lots of people. We could call it a subway.

Unreal levels of idiocracy.
The guy is basically shilling for his cars again.
Most car companies spend tens of millions (actually billions for top companies) on advertisements. He spends tens of millions of ridiculous spectacle ideas to get the media talking about him for free and the consumer is left thinking they're watching the future instead of an ad. Instead of actually focusing on what his products are, people are just slightly too dumb to understand the underlying principles he is talking about, but applaud his confidence. Frankly it's almost Trumpesque; the guy is a master of playing the masses.

At the end of the day he sells luxury cars.

You realize he started PayPal, SolarCity and Space X?

He does more than sell luxury cars

Granted he doesn’t hit on every idea but the man sees a problem and creates a solution

Careful OP, Elon might get asshurt that you don't care for his overengineered goonery and call you a :eek::eek::eek:.

You realize his entire wealth is tied to Tesla's stock price, right?
He also didn't found SolarCity: he bailed it out as a favor to his relatives who led it toward bankruptcy (because their whole family is rich industrialists, despite his desire to be seen as an engineer). The company has been rapidly shrunk.

The dude is addicted to headlines and the disease of "serial entrepreneurism". He hasn't actually stuck with any of his prior companies an is a complete freakshow of a person.

at least musk is trying to think outside of the box and come up with solutions to problems that arent being dealt with
yes, other car companies just spend money advertising their vehicles that havent changed since their invention (100+ years) - they do fuck all to deal with pollution caused by cars or traffic congestion (not even that, but they FALSIFIED data and LIED to public for DECADES about efficiency of their engines and how much they pollute)

someone in here said subways are a better solution - subways cost a lot more money (besides tunnels, you also have to make stations and employ bunch of people for security, maintenance and customer support) and only take you from point A to point B and then you have to find another transport
with Musks solution, at least you dont have to leave your car and proceed driving to wherever you wanted to go without having to deal with traffic lights and congestion

also his cars cant be called luxury cars (only the sports coupe can) considering you dont have to be a millionaire to purchase one

His next idea is going to Mars and starting a colony. Sounds like a terrible escape plan for the elites, after the people learn of the massive deceit and distortion they have created.

Other companies are building electric vehicles too; the idea he is some special snowflake is a fairytale.
Musk has spent over a decade to build a sports car with a touchscreen where you can play arcade games. But of course if you ask him, it's a life or death matter the civilization depends on.

Same story with the HYPErloop. The bullshit got peeled off layer by layer, and it's just a Maglev now.

Yeah. The one question I had in my mind about the hyperloop was exactly what 5 or 6 tons crashing at 700 miles an hour would look like.

yeah, they decided to build their electric fleets:

a) after they have seen what success Tesla has been - and they still dont have a car in production that matches Teslas in range and tech overall (and we are talking about huge companies with 100x the budget and production lines)
b) they had no choice after the dieselgate scandal - they had to change the publics perception of their cars

yeah, well at least he realized his dream and forced big car manufacturers to go electric sooner than later - you can trivialize his cars all you want, but you cant deny they have been revolutionary (no other electric cars in history were this popular) and are ahead of the competition (his autopilot is sick)
and yes, car pollution in big cities is a huge problem that takes away lives (ever heard of smog?) - and considering more and more people are moving into cities, this problem is only going to get bigger

dont know why you would hate on the guy and try to bring him down when he is trying to change things for the better - and we could all benefit from his efforts

would you rather cities be clogged up in smoke from cars you sit around in for hours on end trying to get to your job, or cities filled with electric vehicles that have 0 exhaust gasses and drive themselves more efficiently than humans ever will (if every car was electric and connected you wouldnt even need traffic lights and rage over stop&go traffic)

Ok well you said he sells cars. Glad we both agree he has and continues to do much more than that. Guess we’re done

No I wouldn't like cities to be smogfests.
You're playing into his logical fallacy of needing Tesla to be essential to the future of the world. It's like, bro just cause you're rich and vocal doesn't make you a guru at policy, manufacturing, and social integration. The dude doesn't even have real social skills let alone the capacity to take all this shit on.

And yes they are luxury cars. Dude is a straight up liar in claiming a $35,000 everyman car would exist. His base model vehicles cost over $50k and about 3k a year to insure, oh and you get the privilege of your car being dummied down artificially by software since they won't give you all their weird features and curb your battery usage. Why? Cause it's cheaper to make one fancy battery and handcuff cheaper buyers. If you think that isn't a luxury car I don't know what to tell you.

Guy whos greatest idea was to create this thread about a guy that has created many companies and advanced entire industries, is somehow a fool because everyone else was always 100% on their ideas kind of like this one By Nikola Tesla.
