Another video from the UTC camp. Coach Jeff Bedard, new head coachat Reinhardt university shows an attack series and some good handfighting/positioning stuff with head position, backstep, Schaub/baseball bat tie, and inside ties. Enjoy

Dammit, I haven't even had the time to start the head tie one! I'm looking forward to both though, thanks for posting them!

Thanks Jack, you're the best.

Eh idk bout that lol
Well, merely in the context of my own paradigm, there's not too many people (in person or online) that I can learn about wrestling technique from in the same way. The TECHNIQUE of wrestling is really what interests me the most so I appreciate the sharing of legit info like this.

Haha appreciate it

Hey, Jack,

Do you have any recommendations on Wrestlers or Coaches that have material online?

Jack's stuff is good because it's thorough. There is progression and context. It's not just one move at a time. Check that and Kolat has some good individual videos

Specifically, technique with emphasis on biomechanics, if such exists.

"Biomechanics" is such a funny word to me lol, the instructional you watched has biomechanics just not said in verbose or with obnoxiously long words. For instance where he showed how and where properly snap/pull on the head uses the principles of the fulcrum and lever. And there are plenty of other examples just in that technique video alone.

If you're looking for solid technical instruction that uses "biomechanics" (i.e. basic fundamentals, positioning and skills) I can help. If you want a Ryan Hall style soliloquy, eh I'm not so sure. I'm all for proper and advanced Vocab and discussion, but that word is over used and misunderstood

And this will absolutely shock the bjj people who think John Smith is the only wrestler who used technique but the "Iowa Style"is almost entirely based on positioning or "biomechanics" rather than individual techniques. Or put yourself in good positions or have good biomechanics and put your opponent's in bad biomechanicAL position

I'm glad that you have never come across a an instructional that just went through the movements without the little details.
...
almost every instructional I've ever posted focus on the details and Bedard is super OCD, almost too much sometimes..

Basically i think he just wants more explanation of why the moves work

To be honest, I think Jack thought I was talking to him, while I was talking about the guy that brought up "emphasis on Magic."

This. Why the moves work, why you would plant my foot here, or hand there. What my neck position should be. Is it better if I drop lower or go at an angle, etc

I'm a S&C Coach, studying DPT.

If I just throw the word biomechanics out there, you may find a coach that knows anatomical landmarks, Ranges of Motion, fulcrums and levers, etc. Things that I understand. I'm not a wrestler; just a blue belt.
