Saduluev is perhaps the best wrestler in the world but he has no instincts for striking defense and does NOT react well to getting hit. That slap was ridiculously telegraphed and he still got walloped by it.

Saduluev wins the wrestling match but if you mixed in the striking threat of the Cuban in an MMA fight, he destroys him.

It will be very interesting to see how Gable deals with that reality tonight.

I think the only people who don't know this are hardcore wrestling fans who have never watched actual fighting lol.

Best example I've ever seen of this is that Pat Downey guy.

Was having the time of his life until the first time he fought some can who he couldn't finish instantly. When the other guy realized he was just facing a pure wrestler who wasn't made for war, you could see him licking his lips. Pat got hunted down and slaughtered like he was nothing shortly after.

After that Pat forgot all about MMA haha.

Wrestling is very good base for slap dangal yaar however this technique is poor ji

big flinching for russian competitor Mark Smith would declare additional strike 🙅🏿‍♂️🙂↔️✌🏿

Here is wrestler performing correctly:

There are sportsmen from every discipline who wilt when things are not going their way, this means nothing.

Go and fight a wrestler without good counter-wrestling or BJJ, most often you're gonna get stomped.

Just watched the video, what did you see that made you think he didn't react to getting hit well?

Imagine if a kick boxer couldn’t check a leg kick, that was how Rick Roufus fought full contact the first time against a Muay Thai opponent. The embarrassing thing wasn’t Roufus’s inability to check leg kicks more than it was seeing a much larger (Heavyweight) get cut down by a much smaller man.

1) When you're in a sports competition, you're focused on defending against LEGAL and viable techniques. He'd be stupid to be on guard for strikes and leave himself less prepared for a grappling attack. So this has nothing to do with how he'd do in a "real fight." A boxer would be vunerable to a kick or a trip, because they're not legal. Someone playing doubles tennis, even if they were great in a street fight, would probably be vunerable to the opposing doubles partner who isn't hitting the ball throwing a racket at their head. Because they're focused on the sports-specific techiques and action going on.

2) Despite having no reason to be on guard for a slap like that, he still avoided it. If it touched him at all, it was just a glancing brush against the back of his head. He didn't get "walloped."

3) He didn't react poorly, at all. He was mildly annoyed by it.

You need your eyes checked, and if they're working okay, then have them see if the brain is functioning, at all.

Big exaggerated recoil, you have to stay composed as a striker. Don't think I've ever seen Floyd react like that, even after the huge uppercut from McGregor he kept his composure.

Teach any great wrestler some striking and BJJ, he can choose where to beat his opponent. Of course some wrestlers are more defensive and that doesn't translate to MMA. But I think it's crazy to say wrestling isn't the number one skill.

Besides you can be the best striker or best BJJ guy, how you going to keep your opponent where you want without wrestling?

The real equivalent would have been a scenario where McGregor would have supplexed Floyd during their boxing match. Then we could have said: "Big exaggerated recoil, you have to stay composed as a grappler."
