Not sure what you envision most jobs to be. If you're only talking physical toll then I think you underestimate the rigors for working until late at night then trying to sleep in a vehicle as you go to the next city (for weeks on end).

What's your job? I do accounting and it's cake compared to touring and performing.
I've spent plenty of time on the road.

Whoa, dawg! I can make anyone laugh, but am an utter failure as a musician. That he goes for a small, or one on on setting.

People dismissing the difficulty of live entertainment seem to overlook one of the most common phobias; public speaking, or stage fright, if you will. I'm fine addressing a few dozen people, but would probably freeze, or at least sweat my as off, under a spotlight in front of thousands. Even seeming relatable or likeable under those conditions is a skill I figure.

Yep. Just saying I'd think it more difficult when you're the only guy on the stage and the whole deal is addressing the crowd. A band can ignore the crowd and bang out their shit. And depending on the music you just drown the crowd out while they socialize and wait for the next band.

I have never felt that way about it and thus it rubs me the wrong way, perhaps that is all birthed from my feeling that most stand up comedy is pandering to a specific audience.

Well they certainly pander to the audience they are appearing to. Just look at the way comedian's comedy and routines change when they move from living in one country to another. It's not just a matter of using the same routine but changing the names and places.
The majority of comedy is more miss than hit for me personally though, and with character driven comedy even the hits stop being funny for me pretty quickly. Standup can be the same if the humour's more in the comedian's presentation than their material.

After the cold war ended, Jakov Smirnoff's jokes didn't have the same zing to them.

Yeah, flying solo and being the center of attention, or rejection and scorn, would suck. No thanks. I'll stick to my gig as I think it easy and it suits me just fine.

I'm so used to being myself regardless of who's around I don't think the stage would be the hard part. But I hate traveling and being far from home ...that shit makes me miserable. I don't even like going on vacation.

Don't like vacation? You're an odd duck my friend. Lol

Yea my wife tells me I'm terrible at it. I'm not real good at just sitting and relaxing at all and I just get super anxious about what's going on back home. I like to be in Wayne County at all times where everything is normal I speak the language and I know where everything is
