I think the disconnect people have is that while inflation is low, they often see dramatic price increases in healthcare, tuition, and housing costs, and attribute this to inflation. Those things are not caused by inflation, but one can see how the mistake is made.

There's that (and generally that people notice costs that rise more than average more than they notice costs that rise slower than average or fall) and there's also the fact that a low annual level cumulatively leads to a high level over a long period of time. And people also don't appreciate that labor costs and assets also gain as a result of inflation. Greoric, who knows the meaning of the word "immiscible," literally did once argue that nominal wages would rise as much as they have if there were no inflation at all over a long period of time. I pointed out that the implication of that is that supply-and-demand and power have no impact on wages. He accused me of strawmanning him.

I'm hoping to get my daughters married off young, and my main mission in their lives is to make sure they marry well. That will be the most important building block of their lives, and we shouldn't neglect it.

The bigger point I'm going for is if you're past like 25 and you're dating a 17-19 year old you need a long hard look in the mirror of why you're with someone that is barely out of or still in high school.
