When I first started dating my now wife, she was used to sleeping in complete quiet. All I could hear was the second hand on the wall clock downstairs. Downstairs. Luckily, she didn't object to me being a baby about needing a fan. Could've been a dealbreaker if she wasn't cool with it, though.
heh heh heh I see what you did there

Yep. Song to Song is probably my least favorite Malick, it just feels like the point where his style started to lose focus and the cast is just distracting. Knight of Cups I think was an interesting experiment. What about you?
I really liked both, probably liked Song to Song more since there was a more coherent plot whereas Knight of Cups feels like it wanders a bit. I also thought Song to Song dealt with the break up, time apart, an reconnecting better than pretty much any other romance movie I've seen.

I like both more than To the Wonder which is probably my least favorite Malick film.
Where are you getting these Swift gifs? How you do dis?

Well I guess it beats turning into a bucket of water or creating doors between rooms, but it’s still not a very SUPER, super power so I wouldn’t expect it to be a hit with super power fans of any age. It would be useful I’m sure though.
Even turning into water could be useful if you're creative. You could use it as a getaway by draining into the sewer system or a bathroom or use it to hide by turning into some inconspicuous form of water like a decorative vase or use it for movement by turning into steam to reach higher places.

I thought Song to Song was pretty standard Malick and the cast did a great job with it. I almost never hear it discussed at all though.

I really liked it. Rooney Mara is...fine I guess but I really liked Ryan Gosling, Michael Fassbender, Natalie Portman, and Cate Blanchett in that movie. Probably my favorite romance movie but I don't really watch a lot of those.

Funny enough I don't find Portman to be particularly attractive by Hollywood standards. She's obviously very pretty but its almost like she's a but too conventionally attractive so in my mind she kind of looks like a generic leading lady. But she is a great actress so I'm a fan of hers on that level.

Rooney Mara works for me - I have a thing for those "perpetually worried about something much more abstract than this" faces.

Portman has never moved the needle much for me either, though I haven't really tried to figure out why. Maybe you're right and she is too conventional. Even her stripper scenes in Closer (one of my favourites) seemed too performative - great for the character, less so for my attraction to the actress lol.

She plays a sort of hipster girl that fits perfectly into the story but isn't that endearing to me. She's good but I just prefer the performances from the others.

That's why I like her in unsexy roles like Annihilation, she has the acting chops for them and I don't necessarily care to see her half naked.
