...really? That's what you're going to take out of that?

<{hfved}>

Maybe don't post like Rob and I don't have to guess.

Is that fuckin' hard for you to say which carries more weight between the commerce clause and the 1st? Is that hard for you to understand I never said the 1st outweighed any other Amendments, so your snide question leaves me searching for a response?

Let's skip it, bro. Cheers. I'm gonna go grab beer #4. :)

Don't forget PizzaGaetz. That's been a pretty spicy topic over the last couple of days.
Meh. There will always be something somewhere. I loathe watching the news these days, which used to be like a 5-7pm ritual when I'm not working. Just total rage porn.

I been following recaps and shit of aew and WWE seeing if there's anything to draw me back in but nothings clicked

I don't even know where or how to watch njpw in English and watching it in Japanese would drive me crazy

But I'm kinda that way with most sports these days and they just don't draw me in like they used to. I've even become casual with mma and usually only know like the main and Co main guys as well.

https://njpwworld.com/

Click english and sign up. I use paypal and it just auto bills. No issues with live or VOD. Most shows are broadcasting with english commentary these days. Kevin Kelly and Chris Charlton are the constants, but they'll have like Gino Gambino, Alex Koslov, and Rocky Romero rotate in periodically. More events than not have english commentary tbh.

I haven't really watched WWE in years, couldn't say what was going on there. I watched a few AEW episodes, but it sometimes falls into the same problem as WWE in that it tries to be "too" hip, and transparently obvious in doing so. The only time I remember professional wrestling being ahead of the curve as far as having the pulse of the general populace, was in the late 90s when their back was against the wall facing WCW. The Attitude Era personified the late 90's, but only because Vince was about to go bankrupt and lose his father's company.

I did renew my subscription to WWE Network (now Peacock, I suppose) but I'm not liking the idea of NBC/GE censoring past wrestling events. I heard they already got rid of the DX/Nation skit.

Anyone I'd know over there? It's seriously been years now since I checked them out ....like omega and some fruity lookin Japanese guy who's name I'm drawing a blank on tore down the house at like wrestle kingdom or something last time I think I saw an njpw match

I don't think you understand that these things can all exist and be in force at the same time.

If I write an explicit prohibition into the constitution, it's in effect regardless of more permissive conditions in other places. So if you have the first amendment, and I write in that you can't say "titty monster" under penalty of law...there's no contradiction there. You saying titty monster and being put in jail has no bearing on your free speech rights because it's an explicit prohibition.

So when the constitution says that you have freedom of association, and it also says that the government can regulate interstate commerce, there's no contradiction there. BOTH of those things are true. You have the right to freedom of association, but we've explicitly noted with exhaustive historical evidence that allowing discrimination based on the protected classes will indeed affect interstate commerce. There's no contradiction there. Associate as you wish, do not deny goods based on the protected classes. And just so you don't feel left out, that includes gender. Nobody can deny you public accommodations for being a man. So be careful what you wish for when you start trying to say some parts of the constitution mean more than others.

Yea I read about that. And Vince saying what's up my :eek::eek::eek::eek: to booker t and who knows what else. I fear if you don't own a hard copy of something going back and watching anything is gonna make you feel like you are stuck in some kind of mandella effect with no escape is the future of entertainment.

If that's your reference, probably not lol. But it's not hard to follow. Basically everyone is in a stable. Stables generally have a "top guy" and then a bunch of other guys that fill roles. The stables have recently reconfigured a bit, so it's not a bad time to hop in.

Notable exception is Kota Ibushi, to everything. You might know him. But yeah....

That's my concern. The WWE Network, even though it was/is a shitty system, was the only place to watch the entire archive of not just WWF/E but WCW and all of the territories. Now if Peacock determines anything to be problematic, then it's gone forever.

Another example of modern day SJWs and progressiveness run wild, imo. Why erase history, as if it never happened? Might as well delete Macho Man's entire late 80's run.

Some of us considered the network compromised to begin with. There's more archival projects out there than you think.

ECW 1997 Hardcore TV as broadcast, for instance. You should go back to some classic moments and REALLY relive that shit.

Can you rephrase that?

Here's how the CRA entered into the discussion on what, if any, regulation was legal regarding twitter censoring users.
  • The CRA limits the free speech (specifically freedom of association) of businesses by prohibiting them from refusing service based on various criteria.
  • This is done for the greater good of society.
  • The commercial entity's 1A protections are less robust than the individual's (predicated on the commerce clause)
Therefore can we simply dismiss out of hand any regulation limiting twitter's ability to censor by simply citing free speech?

Right. That's not freedom of association. It's a commercial transaction. You are not merely voluntarily associating: you're selling a good or service. Saying "you can't have a white pride group" or "you can't have a communist party" would be contraventions of freedom of association. Transactional relationships are not that. A landlord is not in a freely associative relationship with their tenant: they are selling a rental property for a market price. Same with a hotel or super market or restaurant.

That's why you can have a racially exclusive voluntarily/non-profit association. Like a white-Christian church. You cannot have a racially exclusive for-profit enterprise, because that's not association. It's commerce. If you want to have a Cubo Hawaiian Hammocks and Long Guns club and exclude me or exclude False, you can. If you want to have a Cubo's Affordably Priced Hammocks and Long Guns store, you cannot.

Aye. I basically only used the Network for watching old, nostalgic stuff from the 80s and 90s anyways. I figure if DX/Nation skit is too problematic for 2021 standards, then just about everything else is fair game as well. DDP/Kimberly, Macho/Elizabeth, the entire Attitude era and women's matches are gone lol.

Yeah, i'm not a fan either. Hell yeah it was racist, but WWE needs to own that shit. We all know Vince is a scumbag, let's make sure we don't forget.

Or if we're gonna be deleting shit, at least make sure to delete Russo. That fucking guy, ugh.

It was racist as hell, but come on. Little Sean Waltman wearing a giant pillow in black face saying "HEY HEY HEY!" as Mark Henry is hilarious, I don't care what anyone says.

That's a long-winded way of saying the commerce clause trumps the 1st Amendment. Thanks. I disagree. Here's why.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

The press is comprised of commercial entities. Therefore the government can stifle their speech. Churches take donations (i.e. are paid for their services), therefore teaching certain beliefs can be regulated.

Guns are bought and sold, therefore they can be banned.

Defense lawyers charge money, therefore they can be denied practice.

None of that makes sense. What makes sense is that the government was tasked with certain duties, regulating commerce among the states being one of them. Then Amendments were added as limits on their authority to execute those tasks. So in my view the commerce clause doesn't allow freedom of the press to be infringed. Surprised you don't see it that way.
