Also @Khabib Khanate I was thinking of you and this interview. I'm far too biased on both the subject of both Chomsky and Erdogan but I am curious as to your opinion on this interview.


It's rare to see Chomsky bristle up at an interviewer. Which is a little odd how aggressive Mehdi Hasan comes across, because he has been often quite critical of Turkey.

Part of me feels like Chomsky was getting annoyed at the constant changes in subject. Chomsky refuses to go on CNN because of the commercial structure and his dislike of the short form media we have become addicted to.

Also can I point out how upsetting it is to me to see Right Wingers start to reference Chomsky like they do Orwell. Years ago I would be elated at the idea of Manufacturing Consent replacing 1984 in political talk but...

I suppose you're right, the GOP under Reagan decimated the future of public unions. You're rather critical of leftism and I respect that, smaller unions became more common and the IWW faded. We know now that in the US that unionization is demonized. Do you agree with the idea of "one big union"?

Historically cross sector Solidarity is what led to major changes. We actually saw this happen recently. AOC brought some attention to a Teamsters strike because she skipped the inauguration to march with Bronx Teamsters..

But what won the strike was the train being ran by the teamsters. They got there and literally went back to fucking Ohio without dropping off produce, and they won. There is power in the strike.
