when I was listening to COC I was thinking a few things

1) the riff is really great on that song. Like really sweet sounding.

2) COC was a hardcore band early on

3) they made me think of you and @AgonyandIrony because that video was filmed in a New Orleans cemetery If I’m not mistaken and COC was a far left hardcore band early on


4) also the line “Jesus help me clean my wounds,” made me chuckle and think of Jordan Peterson and his internet sad boy fan base and I said out loud “help me Jesus, help me clean my room.” Lmaooo

Mine weren't either. I had the black album and use your illusion 2 in like second grade. Music was a free for all with very few exceptions.

My mom flipped out about total chaos once and thought I was rocking some nazi shit

And she hated anything with stza or icp but I wasn't banned from listening to it she just didn't want to hear it in the car.

Me and my mom had a you pick I pick vibe in the car and some absolutely wild Napster cds that I wish I still had.

I was in the car today and put on some FM radio and there is a college radio metal station by me that’s been on the air for decades.

this is what came on when I turned it on

I legit remember the last time I heard them. I was just turning onto a friend's street in Allen Park by the police station

C.O.C. was almost my first concert but they had van troubles and cancelled.

By the time I got to see them (opening for Danzig and Soundgarden in like 1990) they'd become Stoner Rock. I was bummed to hear their new style, but now I can appreciate some of it. Their "Animosity" record is one of the things that got me into Hardcore.

I don't hate Jordan Peterson. Kinda odd guy .... but he's like a father figure to incel types and imo its better that someone tries to offer those fools guidance than no one.

they were a successful crossover act that went from left hardcore to full blown metal.

their metal sound obviously influenced by their punk rock background. i was never a huge fan but they had a unique sound and the singer sounded differently to me and added his politics to their metal sound. I do like a bunch of their tracks.

I notice some 80s metal has a hardcore punk rock feel.

megadeth peace sells is very punk rock and so is Metallica kill em all. To me that’s a full punk rock album just with metal length songs and some solos. Lol
