Social WR Lounge 243: Can you make threads while yellow?

1000 posts per thread doesn't give me enough time to work myself up to make a new thread.

I've always liked persons of color (/ white persons) because it implies individuality and individual consciousness. "Persons of color" speaks to me as describing individuals who happen to have a certain trait, whereas "people of color" doesn't quite as much and "colored people" sounds like more of a defining language than a descriptive one.

Also, just as a kind of related topic, one thing that I have long been working on personally is cutting back on "you guys," "hey, guys," etc. when addressing mixed company. The problem is that, if I'm nervous or under pressure, that's what my mind defaults to. So in situations where I should be most cognizant of it, I tend to actually use it the most. And "you all" just doesn't hit my tongue right.
I often resort to "you folks".

{<shrug}

Few can see it. See, now that is white privilege. Black privilege is never getting red faced when they're trying to hide being embarrassed or mad.
And being under diagnosed for skin cancer because doctors receive insufficient or no training recognizing areas of concern on dark skinned people. Yeah, privilege woo.

I have nothing against using "you guys" but I often say "y'all" which is probably not an improvement
Potatoes are gross, IMO. And I've learned that you're also supposed to ask the other person how they're doing. Wasn't even that long ago that I saw this (white) woman who I sort of know in the parking lot. I waved and smiled, and she asked how I was. I said good, and kept walking. "I'm fine BTW." And then she even told me wife about it. Like, fuck you lady. Why do we need four conversational touches? Two should be sufficient (and we had three)". Where I'm from, we just raise our eyebrows and don't break stride. I started doing it, though.
I'll often respond with "Good enough" which often invokes a ""what do you mean" to which I respond with "Can't complain but could be better" and that's usually the end of that.

No. My dumbass gives one of my numbers out to strippers when I get drunk and then someone who is with me tells me. It gets tossed immediately. I never save it to Google so I just get one overnighted and cloned in the Sprint store
Lmao.
