Finance/Crypto Would you marry someone with significant debt?

I was under the impression that debt acquired before getting married stays your own? Maybe it varies state to state.
 
Depends on how significant, what kind of debt, and her ability to repay.
 
My friend almost did, but she hesitated, not because of love, but because she was concerned about starting life in a financial hole. He had six figures worth of debt, and half of it was consumer debt, while the other half was on a student loan for a worthless degree. Eventually, she said no, and they ended up breaking up.

What about multiple DUI's or speeding citations? Was on the judiciary website the other day and searched a few names and was expecting stuff worse than DUI and speeding, but boy were there tons of that for these subjects.

id been with the ex for about 3 years before i found about about her debt. she was about 7 months into her pregnancy with our first when she thought it would be a fair and appropriate time to bring it up.
 
6 figures of debt. So recent college grads or someone who dropped out halfway through.
