All this talk about him going to MMA, would you like to see it?

I don't mind, I mean you had Ngannou go for it in Boxing. Why not he go for it in MMA and fight the champ right away.

I'd love to see it. Considering he has a wrestling background from what I remember.

He's almost 40 years old and making tens of millions in boxing, there is zero reason for him to consider trying MMA.

It's not about the money, It's about the challenge and the possibility of beating an MMA champion in their own game. I believe that would add two fold to his legacy.

Is there a reason to want this beyond seeing a top boxer get embarrassed in MMA the same way MMA fighters have thrown their dignity away in boxing?
I'd like to see it out of curiosity, to see how the guy does. But the problem with the boxer-does-mma fights can be seen in the James Toney/Randy Couture fight.

It was "exciting" until the fight actually happened, and then it was just ... kind of lame. At least a mma-turn-boxer fight has significantly higher chance of being watchable.

Watching a dude with no real grappling experience get out grappled in short time is just like, ok, yeah? And?

Bud Crawford is not completely clueless with grappling, he has a strong wrestling background. And he can train for a year and than do this one off fight.

He would get destroyed

Sure he has a wrestling background.. that is not the same as practicing wrestling consistently for MMA, using it in MMA (along with other grappling techniques), and being comfortable using it in a fist fight.

It is beyond delusional to think he would be able to beat any champion in MMA.

Have you ever been in a fight? Anything can happen, especially if he can keep it standing with the opponent he's fighting with. There is always a possibility.

If he learned to do great TDD, he would be a dangerous fighter in MMA imo.

When Ngannou was clueless with wrestling against Stipe in their first fight, he quickly learned and got way better with his TDD. And look what he did to Stipe. And no one believed Ngannou would become very competent in his wrestling. And he proved everyone wrong.

This is not delusional at all, it's highly probable he could win with the right training especially TDD.

Guess it would be fun to see the cohort of posters who rabidly hate any non-wrestler flip their shit over Crawford getting attention

I'd like to see the UFC spend more than 15% of revenue on fighter pay so we get talented athletes when they are suitably young to enter MMA.

We don't need 37 year old boxers who are winding down a long career, we want the Crawford level talents to think the UFC is a legitimate option for their athletic gifts. So long as its 12k to get brain damage live on PPV, we will never see this level athlete when it matters.

Sorry, but this is retarded. A wrestling background, lol. He could weigh in anywhere and Pantoja kills him. Hell, Kayla ragdolls his ass.

Have you seen Ngannou vs. Stipe 1 and than watched him against Stipe in their second fight?

It's possible it can happen, Bud Crawford is an excellent athlete, he's not just some bum on the street. Who can barely fight.

It is incredibly delusional and you are stupid for believing it. I am sorry but it is the truth.

Crawford has zero mma experience. He is a world class and perhaps GOAT boxer. That doesn't mean it translates just because he had some wrestling training as a child LMFAO

No, I disagree. Like I explained if Crawford can keep it standing he has a great chance in winning the fight. It will be so obvious that his opponent will try to take him down. So he would learn how to do proper TDD.

Did you watch Ngannou Stipe 1 & 2 and see how Ngannou got way better through proper training? It's not delusional, it's a highly plausible. With the right training Crawford can do wonders.

Heavyweight is a tough division to compare to the lower weights.

Objectively it has half the roster depth, and we see a grossly lower quality of general athleticism. It would be completely impossible to shuffle in fat old farts with single skill sets at 145lbs, it simply could not happen. That happens all the time in the upper weight divisions.

Until the pay changes, suitably young gifted athletes the size of 205/265 are not entering MMA as a first option. We get leftovers.

Proper TDD is hard enough for people who have been training and fighting full time in MMA professionally

What makes you think Bud Crawford is going to pick it up in one training camp? Give me an example of another boxer doing the same and winning a top title in MMA? Can you? If it is so plausible surely it has happened before?

and that is before you even factor in an element like leg kicks
