Would you give up your pitbull dog if they made them illegal?

Lol that's such a shit website. Want to know how they determine the pitbull population? They looked at a few classified ads.

The most recent calculation by Animals 24-7 was completed in July 2015. Breed populations are determined annually by searching over 56 million online classified ad listing dogs for sale and adoption.

Dogsbite is shit. They are the Alex Jones of Pitbull hate. They grossly under-calculate pitbulls and pitbull mutts while over calculating comparable breeds. The website is literally named DOGS BITE.

There's really anywhere from 8-15 million pitbulls running around and way less than 1 million of any comparable breed. That's the numbers that respectable neutral dog organizations come up with.

Then cite your sources demonstrating put hulls are 8-15x more common than breeds like labs, GSD's, and golden retrievers. I didn't locate any source that stated that pit bulls were the most common in the U.S..

Dig through this thread on the exact same subject. Several sources are posted and I'm too lazy to dig for them again. I go through this exact thing every single time.

And no offense, but you literally posted your source and it's straight dog shit. They relied on another group of people to check classified ads to determine dog populations. Say what?? Do you not get why that's retarded?

And do you notice how they don't even use relative statistics? They mention the population, but absolutely do not account for it when determining what breed is dangerous. They use gross totals without accounting for the fact that there's way more pitbulls than other breeds.

In addition to the fact that they don't genetic test any of the dogs in the study and any mutts that have pitbull characteristics is default listed as a pitbull even if it's 50/50 with another breed.

Just Google "is dogsbite a reliable source of information" and look at the results.

No ones givin up their goddamn dogs, and even if they would they aint gonna fuckin admit that shit here.

A pitbull came after my older sister yesterday in her own yard. She ducked into her house and the dog was ramming her glass door. My sister lives in a home on a hilltop with no close neighbors. The dogs' owners are VERY negligent, they were served and will have to go to court in Feb. Their dogs have gotten loose and went after a female jogger before she was able to duck into a neighbors' house.

The next time that pitbull shows up in my sisters' yard, it'll have to deal with her pet python.

The cops said she'd be in the clear.

not a big fan of the breed(s).

predisposed to 'gripping' with their jaws, that's what they were bred for in the first place.

I've seen the carnage and mayhem the breed can inflict. Never seen a Rott or even a Dobie do that.

Pitbulls are A-OK with me. I mean they don't know their own strength sometimes but that's part of their goofy ass charm.

As much as I'm a dog lover, people absolutely need to be responsible with their dogs. If you're letting your dog loose in the neighborhood then you're not responsible with your dog. If a large dog starts chasing me in my yard, I'm coming back out with the AR-15.

It's your civic duty to take care of those animals.

little factoid btw
only two countries on the PLANET who don't have some type of restriction of the breed, (ownership, breeding, importing, etc.) are Canada and the US.
lol, every other country on earth has restrictions, many outright bans on them.
amazing

There is no photo of the dog in the link.

I went to this thing called 'Google' and searched for other articles about the incident.

They aren't predispositioned to grip with their jaws anymore than any other breed like labradors and dobermans. You're crazy if you think a rotty or dobe can't cause as much damage. They absolutely can and do, there's just not that many of them around.

And there's been plenty of bad laws across the world. There was a time when all states made it illegal for women to vote. Does the majority make that the right time to do? Of course not.

well, that's patently false, my friend

over the past 11 years, Pits have accounted for 392 human deaths. that's 64% of dog inflicted deaths, EVEN THOUGH they represent only 6% of the US dog population.

logic, try it sometime

and btw, dumb edit by you

No but if pugs were made illegal I'd become a vigilante. I've been saying for years that those little chubbers have the perfect skin for making footballs.

it's owner came to get it and it was being aggressive towards him. He obviously has little to no control over it/them. I would feel a little sad if it gets put down (because of a ignorant/stupid owner), but I'd be enraged if it hurt my sister.

I've met aggressive pits and I've met friendly pits and I also met Lily the sweetest of the sweet and she was a pit. That said a few years ago my daughter wanted to rescue a pit puppy, I did too in fact, but even though I believe it's the owner that makes the dog, I simply wasn't going to have an animal in my house that could easily overpower my kid or do serious damage by accident. Different if it's just me, I'll have my pits someday, but can't take chances with these beasts. Awesome dogs but to argue against how dangerous they can be is ridiculous.

Yeah, I get it...insert goal posts used by apologists from every thread about pits...."well when you account for their popularity"..."that's not a real pitbull"..."it's the owners, not the dog"...etc. Anyway, I'm not citing your sources for you. I could easily find other sources that indicate that, per capita, pitbull are responsible for the most fatalities. Bu I don't really care enough to, if you're not even going to make citations for bold claims of pits being, by far, the most popular dog breed. I'll just say that I disagree.

I don't have sources to back up my claim, but I think it's safe to assume the odds of a pitbull getting out and attacking a neighbor are astronomically higher than a viper or cobra getting out and attacking a neighbor.
Idk man them snakes are sneaky
