Would you be for HW and LHW being merged into one weight class?

1. The weight classes aren't the issue. The problem is that the UFC has done a terrible job of attracting and developing talent in the heavier divisions.
2. Adding LHWs to the HW roster wouldn't solve the problem. LHW is even worse than HW right now.

Men's:
125 fly
135 bantam
145 feather
155 light
165 super light
175 welter
185 middle
205 light heavy
225 cruiser
226+ Heavy

Ladies:
105 Atom
115 straw
125 fly
135 bantam
No fatties!!
That 225 class sucks …. Heavyweight stinks already

Drop LHW to 199 lb (where it was originally)

Actual LHWs still make it without killing themselves

Weight bully LHWs move up

The problem is that MMA is not really part of the world's sporting culture. The UFC IMO needs to do more outreach with individual countries sporting bodies to help develop future talen.
Respectfully that's an absurd idea.
OK, now do it disrespectfully!

Change 205 to 200 in this scenario.
Good stuff, though!

yes, just for Tai Tuvasa can finally win

Yeah we're not regressing back to guys 50+ lbs apart fighting.

Who are they bullying? Other guys cutting to LHW because they don't want to fight as small hws?

Actually, the UFC would ideally have more weight classes, not less. That's what makes boxing fairer is that there are weight classes that are closer together. The UFC just doesn't have enough athletes to do that, so UFC guys fight opponents with bigger weight gaps than in boxing.

NO that is stupid. MMA fans just want to change everything just cos they arent happy with it currently.

I will go the opposite direction. I will make HW open weight.

Most "Light" Heavyweights these days are guys who weigh nearly 230 lbs in the cage. UFC HW GOAT Stipe Miocic was in the 230s for his last few fights. For most of UFC history, 230 lbs was a decently sized HW.

UFC HW is possibly the weakest it has ever been because the high-level guys are choosing to cut weight instead of fighting at HW. Make it like boxing, where 201 and above is HW, set UFC's HW division to 205-265.

Even with a combined roster, it'd be smaller division than most of the lower weight classes.
I’d prefer it tbh

No, that is pointless. If 205ers want to fight at 265, they can do that already.

Also, you know all that would do is force 205ers to cut down to 201. They wouldn't go to 265.
Good!that would only improve.

Also there is no 201.

185 and the next class is capped off 265

230+ is no "small HW". It's just a HW.
It is when you're potentially fighting guys cutting down to 265. Other divisions are 10 to 15 lbs apart for a reason. But suddenly with LHW and up it's oh yes 30 or 49 lbs bigger it's fine.

Well ALL the fighters that have ALWAYS cut down to avoid being that undersized don't seem to think it's fine lol.

Fedor cut down? Cro Cop? Cain? JDS? All of whom were in that range.

A good 230-235er is usually a match for a 265er. The pounds that he gives up are typically made up for with superior speed or skill.

I didn't say everyone fighting at hw was a monster fighting at the limit. But we've seen our fair share of Lesnar's, Carwins, Reema, Bigfoots etc.

And again it's funny it's always the fans saying these massive size differences are no big deal, but MOST fighters don't seem to agree. If they did the majority wouldn't be cutting down to avoid fighting larger men.

It's always been either a written or unwritten rule in combat sports that a man 200 lbs and above is a heavyweight, even if they many face men much heavier than that.

Boxing has like a dozen lower weight classes, but you have a 225 lbs Usyk fighting a 280 lbs Tyson Fury for the reason I mentioned. Fedor made a name for doing similar in Pride.
