Would there be Isis if the US never invaded Iraq?

There's many who believe Isis is a result of the failed Iraq war.

-disbanded the Iraqi army leaving half a million well trained Iraqi troops unemployed white their country was in chaos .
-caused chaos and divide after the innocent protesters were killed in April 2003
-detained 10's of thousands of innocent iraqi at camp Bucca where imprisoned jihadis recruited them. The self proclaimed leader of Isis, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, was at Bucca lol


Once the americans lost the trust of the ppl in Iraq, it made it so easy for jihadis to get new recruits. Everyone across the middle east (not counting Israel) must be thinking when they're the next country to have "weapons of mass destruction"

imo America should take the majority of the blame for Isis

They have been assholes for like 2000 years. Don't think the Iraq war had any effect except give them an excuse.

American foreign policy directly left a power vacuum ripe for the taking in Iraq..the takers just happed to be a shit ton worse then the incumbent gov.
 
Isis takes the blame for isis imo. Fuck them.
 
There would be nothing similar to what we're seeing now. Not only did US directly helped in forming ISIS, it has overthrown every middle-east leader that protected Christian population in his own country, except Assad.

Well... They're both created by US agencies so that's similar, but they're also located in different places... Soo... That's a little different


In response to OP, I don't know that I'd specifically pin the invasion of Iraq, because we've done so much other shit over there as well. I think with no US involvement over there, there would definitely not be MORE terrorists. I think there would be a lot fewer, but it's a hypothetical with a lot of variables. It's not something that could really be predicted.

There has always been fundamentalists who want to create a caliphate. Cuz that is what Mohamed sez to do.

We should have let ISIS take complete control of the middle East. Then we could have easily wiped them out and put in some US friendly peeps

Umm no, Islam literally says to kill everyone who doesn't believe in Islam. They tried in the middle ages to take over Europe, but we're repelled by Richard the Lionheart

Dude half of Raleigh is Indians and Muslims. Muslims in America are the same as Christians in America. We aren't true believers, the dude in the middle East are a different breed
