I just rewatched Swordfish again last night for the first time in over a decade. I was surprised by a few things.
- it had a ton of stars and future stars in it
- the story was better than I remembered. I liked how you were torn as to whether or not to root for Travoltas team or consider them the bad guys. Especially since it was released in 2001 and the US was in war-mode. I think a sequel based on Travoltas team would be cool.
- the computer setup that just amazed Hugh Jackman and was supposed to be super impressive, was just a 5 monitor setup in a circle. Big whoop. Pretty funny looking at that now.
- the main guy, travoltas character, was written as some bad ass uber amazing smooth criminal genius type guy. And travolta did not do a bad job. But he did not fit the character either. Imagine somebody else in that role and I think that movie would be a lot better. Somebody like Hugh Laurie maybe. Or Christian Bale.
Who would have been a better fit for Travolta in Swordfish? Would a different actor have made that movie a lot better?
