In his prime, BJ's boxing, wrestling, BJJ and Fight IQ were MUCH higher than Eddie's were in that fight. We're talking about a guy who gave Machida a good fight. And that was a fat, young, BJ, not the best version.Conor gives BJ the Alvarez treatment.
BJ can wins for sure, but idk if he would. Prime Conor has a way of breaking fighters before a fight. Nate and Khabib are mentally tougher than BJ imo.
Similar. He was less rangy and didn't have the same volume of strikes, but hit harder, had better wrestling and was a far better athlete. They didn't call him "prodigy" for nothing. He had otherwordly flexibility on the mat (which I don't even think he worked on) and an unusual ability to learn quickly. That's why he started winning grappling tournaments without much experience and could stand toe to toe with Machida. The Diaz boys worked hard and gained legitimate skills, but are/were pretty average athletes. There are some GIFs of Penn being able to avoid TDs while training that are really impressive and go beyond good technique. He’s essentially got Nate’s skill set.
Remember, the thread says "Motivated Penn," and BJ's mental game was pretty unbreakable when he was motivated; Conor's antics would not have an effect on the motivated one.Conor gives BJ the Alvarez treatment.

Well for one, Jens actually defended the LW belt.BJ wouldn't be top 20 on his best day with the current LW division. Jens Pulver and Conor are not in the same universe.
right now?!? of course. bj hasn't been worth a damn for 12 years! conor isn't what he used to be but he's still a solid fighter. much younger than BJ too. if anyone actually thinks BJ could beat conor, they should be banned from this site.
